I’m done with these black mirrors. Already bought my last handset and will run it until the wheels fall off before replacing it with some $50 dumbphone from eBay.

didnt they say 2 weeks ago prices weren't going to increase. in Europe we already overpay for apple products how much more do we need to pay, we already paying 1.3k euros while in dollars its 1.1k but people forget that our currency is now worth less than toilet paper, prices need to be the same or cheaper than the dollar or this is unacceptable

Extra $100, for a $3 battery increase. “Inflation”. Please. It’s been going up every year for forever. There’s some elasticity in those margins that apparently don’t have any wiggle room.
But hey, if they pay, let them pay!!

Given inflation this really isn’t too much of a surprise.

Perhaps but inflation was fairly high last September (and rapidly rising) yet Apple didn't raise prices on the 13 Pro and Pro Max models. Plus, prices for the 128GB and 256GB 13 and 13 mini actually dropped $50 versus comparable 12s the year before.

Yea it's backwards. They would have reaped the cash then with people's stimulus money burning holes in their pockets.

Newbie question: As iPhones don't have "s" editions every other year any more, is there still a difference between byears such that some years there are fewer new features like it used to be with "s" years? If so, is this year an "s" year (fewer features)? I used to get a new phone every two years or sometimes each year but I haven't upgraded since iPhone XS Max so I am due.

I was just thinking this the other day. I think they nixed S because people always thought it didn't add much. But there hasn't been too much exciting since FaceID, at least for me. I think the largest screen getting larger was the greatest thing for me and some of the colors.

That’s a relief. The base storage isn’t enough for me anyways, so if Apple just keeps the storage tier prices the same while eliminating the 128GB, therefore raising the base price, it shouldn’t be a big deal. I still don’t plan on upgrading this year anyway. I’m happy with my 512GB iPhone 13 Pro Max

Possibly but a variety of factors can go into pricing. With iPhone unit sales down in 2019 and iPhone revenue down in 2019 and again in 2020, they may have been hesitant to raise prices in 2021 despite rising inflation.

I'm still rocking the 11 Pro and thought about upgrading this year but $1099 probably means 1299€ for the base model. Yeah - no. I will probably wait for the 15. (I only ever owned S/odd-numbered models - so I should probably stick to this routine)

An S year was the same body, but with better specs.

Given iPhone 6,7 and 8 and SE were all the same they’re all your Ss.
iPhone 11,12,13 arguably are the same situation.

Yeah, I do Apple's upgrade plan, which I admit is more like leasing a phone. But every price hike is an increase in my monthly expenses. And I haven't done the Pro models because of those mostly expenses. But it's not like we have a choice if we want the latest iPhone tech.
I just look at it as an investment. I use my phone all day every day. For work, for leisure, for communication, for hobbies. Why wouldn’t I get the latest and greatest if I’m using it that often.

Same can’t be said for an iPad that only gets used a few times a week in my case.
