On the plus side, this is probably the last price increase before Apple introduce their hardware subscription options and help obfuscate the TCO.

Apple has already had an iPhone Hardware subscription service for many years now!

It is called the iPhone Upgrade Program and you pay a monthly fee forever but you get a the new iPhone every year! You turn in your old iPhone when the new one arrives.

I used to upgrade every year, but as the innovations slow and prices skyrocket, it is getting harder and harder to justify annual upgrades, even being a big Apple gadget person.

If we assume the launch price of a 256GB 14 Pro Max will be $1,299, that's still only $50 more than the launch price of a 256GB 11 Pro Max three years ago. I wouldn't call that skyrocketing.

Also, a lot of the higher prices have been tied to things like much improved camera capabilities compared to several years ago. You may be paying more but you're also getting more, if those improvements/features are important to the buyer.

I don’t think anyone will not buy it. But, I’m curious how low the sales would have to be before Apple even considered the price was too high. Back when Steve Jobs said people will “vote with their wallets”, enough customers and tech journalists could complain and they would probably listen. Now, i think the profit machine is too stuck for them to ever care. But it’s just like rent, it will never go down. Oh well.
Have you seen the iphone sales numbers , they always sell more then the previous year

Your reply doesn't make sense. It is like saying, if Apple doesn't increase in price, then there won't be new features.

But why would you want pay more? If you can get iPhone with all the features at same price, why would you want pay more?
It's sarcasm

They will, especially whenever the phone has a 48MP camera.

Yeah because Apple are known to be generous with base storage. For how long did they stick with 16 GB? Then 64, despite the phones being equipped with 4K cameras, etc.?

If the people get poorer from inflation, lower wage growth and higher interest rates, how does Apple think raising the price of the iPhone will sell more phones?

But the majority "buy" phones with a Plan at AT&T for 1-3 years. Then it will not be as "expensive" per month. Therefore, the prices of mobiles have rushed away tothe sky...

Not surprising. Inflation is hitting everything right now.

Still, starting the phone above that magical $999 mark is one of those 'psychological' things that could hurt sales.
Thanks, I’m out. The phone was overpriced to begin with, that’s why they post record after record of billions of profits every quarter. Now you want to increase prices? 1,099.00 for a phone? And it’s the base model? Get the **** out. 1,000 was already too much, it was overpriced as **** and you want to overprice it even more.

So you think they are going to upgrade the base memory?

My growing concern is that the 13 mini won't get a price cut or might just be discontinued all together.
I’m wondering if Apple might discontinue the 13 lineup completely and make the 12 the next lowest model at $599 with a $200 gap between the 14 and 12. That would make sense given how close in specs the 14 and 13 are.

14 Pro Max $1,199
14 Pro $1,099
14 Max $899
14 $799
12 $599
SE $429 (price reduction to $399?)

That would be a clean, well-defined lineup.

They will not do that. Apple has one goal and that is to maximize profits. Don't offer what's best for the customer.

Look at iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Recording video 4k ProRes and then transfer BIG files with Lightning. 🤯

And Apple will do the same with iPhone 14.

Everything is going up. Thats the way inflation works. Everything. Gas, iPhones, food. Crappy times...

Inflation has hit houses/cars/groceries. All over the world. USA is not the worst. Other countries are worse. Why are people shocked that iPhone will increase prices for iPhone? I was expecting that honestly.

Apple and other companies must keep their profit maginals during this economic crisis.....
