So you think they are going to upgrade the base memory?

I'm not sure. There is that rumor floating around but it's just a rumor at this point. I was simply comparing the 256GB launch price for the 11 Pro Max against a 14 Pro Max if it saw a $100 increase (another rumor) over the 256GB 13 Pro Max.

Apple may still offer a 14 Pro Max with 128GB for $1,199 ($100 over comparable 13).

But when inflation goes back down, do you think the price of the devices will go back down? Nope. Its greed on Apples part
Inflation is a measure of a rate of change....when it goes down it just means prices will not increase as fast. Prices going down means the rate of price changes is negative and that is deflation. And that...is often even worse than inflation and can topple governments (inflation often does as well but it has to get much more than we are facing).

If we had deflation apple would likely drop prices but right now any price increases from inflation may be permanent but not always. Lets hope they are not...especially for all the elderly on fixed income that are being screwed over by inflation (which is multifactorial).

Price hike is definitely in the cards. Everything else has gone up and Chips, Camera as well as battery costs have gone up
For those that want to save money stick with the 13 but don’t expect Apple to absorb the cost

Apple has already had an iPhone Hardware subscription service for many years now!

It is called the iPhone Upgrade Program and you pay a monthly fee forever but you get a the new iPhone every year! You turn in your old iPhone when the new one arrives.

That isn’t a subscription in many countries.

You own the phone, but the value is loaned to you, so it’s a credit agreement. You can still do what you want with the phone.

Have you seen the iphone sales numbers , they always sell more then the previous year
I’d say that’s the real problem. Of course we can’t blame Apple when people continue to mindlessly accept being wrung out for every last penny.

Apple's biggest competitor now is itself.
People are holding onto their iPhones as long as possible now, hence the price hikes to please shareholders.

Expect more predatory behaviour in the coming years, with App Store devs being forced to stop supporting older iOS.

Even though the “always on” display feature sounds nice, I’m starting to think I’ll go another year with my 11 pro. It’s a great device. The only thing that would make me jump on a 14 pro is if it were noticeably lighter. I doubt that’s going to happen.

The question is whether it matters?

It's not a low-end product. Certainly there are some weirdly price-conscious people for whom spending 10% more for a $1K phone they don't really need is a turnoff, but I feel like if you really want a Pro you're going to get it, the same way there are people plunking down top dollar for maxed, er, Maxes right now.
I see people at the grocery store on food stamps who have the most expensive iPhone. People will go into serious debt for the new iPhone.

There have been plenty of times when Apple has kept prices the same or even lowered them including during periods of higher inflation e.g., launch prices for the 128GB and 256GB iPhone 13 and 13 mini in 2021 were $50 lower than the 128GB and 256GB iPhone 12 and 12 mini prices the year before.
Ok. While this history looks great, I’m not going to hold my beer. We shall see.

Oomph. I already reduced from new every 2 to every 3....>$1K for my iPhone? Might be riding my 12 Pro a little longer than planned. Nothing I've seen that warrants upgrading asap. Oomph - repetition for emphasis.

Smaller notch requires a price increase. With inflation and shortages apparently it costs a little more than 200 to make the iPhone now so it seems justifiable to charge $1500😂

I don’t think his tweets were interpreted entirely correctly here.

He said “due to iPhone 14 Pro’s price hike” - so yes, absolute prices might be more expensive - but the 15% is the ASP of the entire 14 series, and that often rises, as he also pointed out, because the sales mix shifts to more higher end models.

Eh, we’ll see if it or the Series 8 are worth it or I soldier on another year.
