I still feel that Apple's take on the AR/VR headset/glasses will make the whole foldable thing redundant. The foldable products that exist currently seem like a very inelegant solution for providing a slightly larger screen on the device your using.

This KUO is already boring and its making 90% stuff up...next year he will say that the product is delayed or canceled
rumours without some kind of facts from KUO at this points are just seeking for attention

These guys work for companies like IDC. They're in it for the money. Spreading rumours and even more (too fantastic) speculations to get investors to spend more money and hoping for stocks to go up (or down).

I personally don't see any benefit in having a foldable screen for a personal device like an iPhone or iPad. I see more benefit in developing a very durable (almost indestructible) iPad that is just a thin as current iPads. We have to wait years, maybe decades, until we can produce iPhone/iPad like devices (including battery) that are as flat as a piece of paper.

I'm not buying any kind of folding device. Unless Apple can invent folding glass then I'm not interested! I'm not paying silly money for a fragile device that I need to baby or cough up extra to pay insurance for WHEN it gets damaged.

Apple will sell it as this whole new exciting product and they will have "got it right". People will go bananas over it but this is where I draw the line. I'm sticking to traditional flat devices with solid pieces of glass.

Dual Boot would be epic.
Makes more sense for them to just let macOS run on the folding "iPad Pro" but slap on a new iPad/touch friendly UI.

iPads would still run iPadOS and Macs would still run just macOS. The folding devices could have their own OS based on macOS. maybe call it something like switchOS or shiftOS 🤷‍♂️

The number of people in this thread who have said they hope it runs macOS is telling. Count me among those who would rather see a 2 lb laptop. I have zero interest in an iPad of any kind because iOS is annoying and limiting. And I see little reason to believe Apple will allow macOS to run on an iPad any time soon (if ever).

I’d love an M3 iPadBook.

macOS when connected to a display and keyboard and mouse or on laptop mode.

IPadOS when flat or by choice.

I don’t really want both a desktop and an iPad. One machine to meet all my needs.

I still don't get foldables. I don't see a use case for me. Call me short-sighted, but I don't know why anyone would want to fold an iPad. To get it in a smaller bag? I think it's a gimmick. But I might be wrong, so I'm not saying I will never buy such a device. Only time will tell.
