Something tells me that Ming Chi Kuo is starting to lose his grip on supply chain sources, given how his more recent predictions are centred around products that won't be released for another 2-3 years at least.
And of course when rumors don’t materialize everyone wading in the rumor mill has the out of saying the product has been delayed or there were last minute changes so they never have to admit they were wrong.

I still don't get foldables. I don't see a use case for me. Call me short-sighted, but I don't know why anyone would want to fold an iPad. To get it in a smaller bag? I think it's a gimmick. But I might be wrong, so I'm not saying I will never buy such a device. Only time will tell.
I think the only real benefit is when you can make a phone-sized device fold out into a tablet-sized device. Basically get an iPad in your pocket. It could run iOS in its phone mode and iPadOS in its tablet mode. Two for one.

Every day we step closer to this reality:

Unless Apple has figured out how to not get(or how to hide) he crese on the folding part of the screen, i have my doubts that they will release any foldable device.
I’m hoping they have too. A foldable tablet would work well for me, but that crease I’ve seen on every iteration of the galaxy folds and flips is a no go for me. Just kind of bothers me seeing it, like a floater that won’t go away 🤨

Foldable screen - well, as far as the design aesthetic goes - it might as well be a laptop, it’s never going to be pretty and the ‘crease’ issue is guaranteed to rear its ugly head. Make it an extendable rolled edge and you’ll have some worthy of the label ‘innovative’.

If I were to get a foldable, it would be this. Sounds interesting.
Would you mind elaborating? A foldable iPad doesn't make sense to me. Is this supposed to be a variation of "2-in-1" laptops? What are we gaining by folding or unfolding?

Folded it's a smaller "tablet". Unfolded it's a much larger tablet? Inbetween it's a laptop?

Make your choice
I think if Apple is going to make a foldable the iPad is the right product.

But I agree in that every foldable screen in market looks and feels like cheap plastic. On top of that they all have a crease.

If Apple can solve both those draw backs then cool. If not its going to tarnish the brand IMO.

You can be sure that Apple will never release anything with a foldable screen.

Maybe I don't fully understand your post, but for me the "issue" is that the MBA is still too big/heavy. I want a Mac "ultrabook" - 2 lbs, 12" or smaller. It seems that Apple is forcing us to choose iPad at that size and I don't like iPad.
May I suggest you sign up for Apple's Fitness+

I bet after 3 months of workouts that MBA wont feel too heavy anymore.

Can't innovate anymore... my ass !

Call me when they actually deliver. I won't be waiting around for your call.

The sad thing about the state of Apple's reputation now, at least from my perspective at least, is that when I hear any rumor about an Apple product that is even slightly outside the scope of their current money printing formula of releasing the same set of products with only marginally incremental upgrades, is that I immediately know that the rumor is probably false.

I mean just look at the history since Jobs. It has almost entirely been milking existing product lines with minimal innovation. Basically, put in a new chip. Make the camera a little better. Make the device bigger or smaller. What has been truly new? The Apple Watch was already set in motion before Jobs died, with Apple having a team of 100 working on it in 2011, the same year Jobs died. So really, what else is there? Answer: The HomePod. That's all. Over a decade, and the only truly new product they have been able to come up with where Jobs wasn't involved on some level is the HomePod. Wow.

Im curious on the foldable size if it will be the 20 inch which ross young highlighted below. Hard to imagine this is the case.
If its not then its pointless.

A device that goes from the size of an iPad mini while folded to an iPad Pro while unfolded is worthless. I don't want an iPad mini, and neither do most people. It needs to be a usable size when folded (at least 10-11") and then much much larger when unfolded. Otherwise there is zero utility and all gimmick to this folding.
