Apple has urgently addressed production challenges related to the iPhone 15 Pro Max's upgraded Telephoto camera system in order to boost supply of the device, according to research shared today by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo said the iPhone 15 Pro Max's tetraprism camera module with up to 5x optical zoom has been the most significant supply bottleneck for the device. In response, he said Apple has increased the specifications of the tetraprism lens supplied by Largan Precision in order to compensate for this. As a result of this change, and to meet strong demand for the iPhone 15 Pro Max overall, Kuo said Largan Precision has expanded its production lines for the tetraprism lens.

iPhone 15 Pro Max shipping estimates range from 3-4 weeks for some configurations to 6-7 weeks for others. Yesterday, Kuo said iPhone 15 Pro Max demand had outpaced iPhone 14 Pro Max demand during the same period last year.

In addition to the camera-related bottleneck, Kuo previously said that the iPhone 15 Pro Max entered mass production later than the other devices in the iPhone 15 series, which has presumably contributed to the device's lengthy shipping delays. In the U.S., the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 with 256GB of storage.

All of the iPhone 15 models are now available to order and launch this Friday.

What a bummer. This is a fast changing environment. Hopefully demand doesn't drop by the time they address supply challenges.

They better. Managed to get my order in but was definitely feeling the secondhand stress in the preorder thread 😬

No surprise. Even me, a Mini lover, is considering the iPhone 15 Pro because of the reduced bezels and Titanium.

I think people underestimate the titanium change and the slimmer bezels.
I'm a 13 mini owner and I think I'm getting the smaller 15 Pro this year. I'm sad, but there were a few trade offs in the smaller form factor that I need back (battery, macro camera). Mini was such a great phone.

Maybe next time reduce the supply of regular non pros significantly and put the majority of your production onto those models as that's what the majority seems to want.

Looking at the regular 15 in small and plus size in the UK, it seems most capacity sizes and colours are still showing for 28th Sep - 3rd Oct. Goes to show most want the Pro devices.

I too believe many are underestimating the benefits of moving to a Titanium frame.
I'm expecting that to be THE talking point as embargoes lift for those with review units, and as devices start delivering to customers at the end of the week. As a 14 Pro user, I welcome any reduction in weight. While nicely balanced, the 14 Pro devices are really heavy. For a handheld.

Or maybe the move to Ti won't prove a big deal. The fun part is, we'll all know a lot more within the week. Such a fun time of year...

I'm not so sure it shows that. It might just show that the type of people who pre-order the minute it's possible prefer those types of devices. Over a longer period, it may be that the non-Pro model has the most stamina or widest uptake amongst 'regular' customers.
