Same story every year. The most expensive slice of the iPhone line experiences high demand as seen through shipment estimates, then Apple is 'rushing to increase production.' AAPL jumps ~5%.

And they have had how long to figure this out before launch!! Gone are the days of the iphone being available the day of the keynote

I'm a 13 mini owner and I think I'm getting the smaller 15 Pro this year. I'm sad, but there were a few trade offs in the smaller form factor that I need back (battery, macro camera). Mini was such a great phone.
This is me, too. I had the 13 mini, needed better battery and camera for traveling in areas with low/no signal. I thought even the Pro was too big so if I was going to go big, I was going to go all the way and got the 14PM. That screen was so beautiful and the battery was great but it was so big and heavy. I went back to my 13 mini. Unfortunately, I got spoiled by the promotion and snappy response of the 14PM and my mini has seemed so slow in comparison. I decided to go for the middle ground 15 Pro since it is lighter and slightly trimmer than the 14 Pro. I hope this is the goldilocks phone-especially for battery life. Pro Max is a delight to look at.

Apple has urgently addressed production challenges related to the iPhone 15 Pro Max's upgraded Telephoto lens in order to boost supply of the device, according to research shared today by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo said the iPhone 15 Pro Max's tetraprism lens with up to 5x optical zoom has been the most significant supply bottleneck for the device. In response, he said that Apple supplier Largan Precision has expanded its production lines for the tetraprism lens in order to meet strong demand for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is already facing November shipping estimates for some configurations on Apple's online store.

iPhone 15 Pro Max shipping estimates range from 3-4 weeks for some configurations to 6-7 weeks for others. Yesterday, Kuo said iPhone 15 Pro Max demand had outpaced iPhone 14 Pro Max demand during the same period last year.

In addition to the camera-related bottleneck, Kuo previously said that the iPhone 15 Pro Max entered mass production later than the other devices in the iPhone 15 series, which has presumably contributed to the device's lengthy shipping delays. In the U.S., the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 with 256GB of storage.

All of the iPhone 15 models are now available to order and launch this Friday.

No surprise. Even me, a Mini lover, is considering the iPhone 15 Pro because of the reduced bezels and Titanium.

I think people underestimate the titanium change and the slimmer bezels.

They are nice changes and if you get a sweetheart of a deal from your provider every year or two to upgrade then why not. For others, like me, who don't $1000 - $2000 plus dollars depending on where in the world you live that's a lot of money to upgrade from something that is fine like an iphone 10 or 11 or newer. I think a lot of people with the minor changes to new iPhones releases these days, just wait till there iphones get sluggish or new ios features they really want aren't supported by their current iphone. I can't think of too many must have recently released ios features for me at least, so not in a rush to upgrade my 12 pro.

It's on purpose at this point. They know the Pro/Pro Max are the most popular. Why would you wait longer to start the most popular model? lol.

14 Pro Max is really heavy also when I put in my short pocket. It keeps pulling my short down causing me having to keep adjusting my short especially workout short so no wardrobe malfunction occurs 😂. I hope Titanium will make it lighter.
So true, even with shorts that can be tightened.. left side is always lower then the right.
and I have the 14 pro with no case..

I loved the 12 mini when I had it a few years ago, for workouts. couldn't even tell it was in my pocket..

Yeah, I was having issues with the battery so I considered the 14 Pro until I picked it up, the thing was crazy heavy. The 15 Pro seems to be on the money (not that I've seen it yet to confirm). But when I've travelled with the Mini, it really struggled with battery life, even with a magsafe battery pack on the back of it. I can't go for a max, that would be too much of a jump for me!

I can't speak to its effects on wardrobe malfunction potential, but I suspect the device will provide noticeably lighter. I can't wait.

Surprising given so many people are claiming this was just an 'S' update.
Happens every year. Maxes are gone in an instant, and it's super rare to find one for instore pickup, except one a day or less maybe a TB one. Wiould never have an issue finding some sort of Pro, but no Maxes.

Tim is a supply-chain master, one of the best. This would be worse without him.

It took thee weeks to get my iPhone 4 back in the Steve Job days.
He's not in supply chain management. He's the CEO. He needs to go back to his old job.

If you want more output, why would you „increase specifications“? Or is this just nicer wording for „allowing lower quality in order to meet demand“?

Yea, I had noticed that, just hadn’t seen that name before…
Still bugs me that the smartphone industry calls it optical zoom when it isn’t…
It is technically an optical zoom, its just not a dynamic optical zoom. It's a static zoom.

No, sorry, it’s not optical. Optical zoom is achieved when lenses are arranged in a way that they get different focal length all with the same lens…
iPhone 15PM can’t do that, the zoom that is achieved is digital …

I think we are getting into the weeds here.

Using preset focal lengths on lenses is optical since its using an optics as opposed to pure digital manipulation.

There are 2-3 lenses on the phones. They all have different focal lengths. If that true focal length isn't digitally zoomed in or out its not a digital zoom.

I hope this doesn't go down the "analog" vs "digital" tube amp controversy.
