Why in the name of God would you want a True Tone on the display size of a post stamp?! Sharper?! Hmm Im not an expert but if you feel the AW screen is not sharp maybe the eye doctor...
Except this year right?Spoiler alert... every AppleWatch ever will have faster performance and improved water resistance compared to the previous one.
As much as I love my AW5, I think I’ll be jumping off the Apple hardware train soon. I personally think the price of their hardware is climbing to fast with the yearly upgrades.
Considering the latest iPhone 11 Pro, AirPod Pro and now series 5 AW, Apple think putting a pro at the end of a name makes it worth the increase.
Their hardware is quickly becoming to expensive to be invested in it.
iPhone 11 didn't become more expensive with the name change to Pro, the original AirPods are still available at the same introductory price of $159/199, and the Series 5 Apple Watch never added the word Pro.As much as I love my AW5, I think I’ll be jumping off the Apple hardware train soon. 100m is not good enough? so, you and how many other people actually scuba dive to 328' depth? Wait for the 200m version so you can take it down to 656'......and see if the watch leaks?
If I were a serious diver like that a serious purpose built watch would be a no brainer. You are correct. Recreational compressed air scuba diving limited to 40m, and diving deeper than 12m requires incremental levels of advanced training and certification.
Nevertheless, dive watches are rated at least 200-300m. Some dive watches rated >1000m. For people that actually dive with them AND rely on them to track critical time at depth to avoid decompression sickness, a massive depth rating safety factor becomes more understandable.
But, AW is not marketed as a dive watch, as of now anyway.
I'm no industrial designer. A little slimmer profile would be nice, it's just a let-down when there's little to no design change like we've been seeing on the iPhone for the last three years. The spec update years just tend to be a bit lame, like the jump from Series 4 to Series 5. Always-on display is cool, but it's not an upgrade worthy feature. When you say ‘design tweaks’, what do you mean by that? What are you indicating that they should tweak?

I didn't think I would like the AOD feature. After using it for a week, I am sold. It makes using the watch so much nicer, versus my s3 which I always had to tap, seeing how the wrist raise didn't work half the time. Granted, it doesn't get 36 hours like my s3 but, it last a day easy and I am fine charging my watch every night. And this is why I recommend an Apple Watch Series 4 over a 5...unless it's imperative that you need or want always on display.
That's a fair comment. I don't personally care for video calls.Try holding your Apple Watch to your face for like 3 minutes or so. Try to simulate a conversation, sing the National Anthem or something like that. See? It's incredibly inconvenient.
That's a pathetic comment. I would like something better than passcode authentication. I want device security and in-app security. To even suggest that how things are is how they will always be is ridiculous. That's why the AW doesn't have a camera.
You know they're not expecting everyone to upgrade every year, right? These half baked incremental updates are wasteful and just money grabs.

Unless the new apple watch can be used as a depth gauge / dive computer, when skin diving or scuba diving. In which case it could be disruptive for the high-profit sector of dive watches. After the S5 that’s welcome news.
+ how many people have water damage in a current AW? Seems like a weird thing to focus on.
