I see people not thinking S7 was a big deal. As an S6 owner I kinda disagree. I didn't upgrade, but to me the killer feature is the screen size. Bigger screen with same physical size is a big deal in my book, and from what I have seen in stores it's really noticeable.

I have a S3... I think It'll be at least another generation or two before a worthy/needed update.
I have an S3 also, but think I will upgrade this year. For me the always on display is what I’m looking forward to most but the extra screen space will also be nice. I originally bought the S3 end 2020 as I didn’t know how much I would use it as I mostly wear it on the weekends and when working out.

They’ve been working on this for a long time. Seems the other sensors that people want will just get pushed back more and more.

I finally bought an SE recently and absolutely love it. However, I feel no desire to upgrade to the S7 or any future version. I love Fitness+ and plan to stick with it long after the three month trial. The SE is a surprisingly good device and I believe that Apple could sell these by the ton if they lowered the price to around $200. At that price they would be no-brainer Christmas gifts and could become almost as ubiquitous as iPhones. (I‘m aware of the series 3 being for sale, but who wants that?)

If I were directing Apple's future watches department, I think I'd want two strands. First, and very obviously, try to do the things like BP, temperature, etc., which are accepted by the medical establishment as being useful measures.

And, in parallel, a team looking at what sensors exist, or could be developed, which could be incorporated despite there not yet being known or obvious medical utility. Is there a possibility of detecting very fine movements. Which might be able to show variations on muscle relaxation. And what could be detected by various lasers and how the underlying skin affects the reflected light.

Kuo added that Samsung is experiencing similar challenges with body temperature measurement, noting that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 may not come with a body temperature monitoring feature due to algorithmic limitations.

Sorry. I misread that as “algorithmic imitations.” ?

I went from a S0-watch to S6. Some updates, a little faster and a few gimmicks like EKG and Oximeter - but essentialy it still feels like a minor upgrade to me - probably going to wait for S10-S12 for the next one.

Unless you stayed at watch OS 2.x, I’m calling you a liar.
For me, 3.x was a performance killer on my S0. Every touch took seconds to react.

There’s no way the watch 6 doesn’t feel faster unless you just use it to tell time.
I did S0 to S6 and it felt ALL worth the $429 retail.

Bigger screen
Faster response
More features in the watchOS

What is the Apple Watch team doing? Apple has had plenty of time to add the sensor.

If there aren’t going to be any new sensors available in Apple Watch 8. Don’t even bother introducing a new watch in 2022. People will eventually get tired of getting minimal upgrades.
The Apple Watch is just fine as an incrementally updated device.

The appreciated upside to slow upgrades is that I don’t feel FOMO in a year after spending an absurd amount of money (for me) on a digital watch that does cool things.

If you don't have a fever and you're not dead then chances are your body temperature is fine. Happy to help.
But you could have a metabolic disorder resulting in abnormally low blood temperature and suffer considerable from it.

Everyone appears fixated on fever and/or monthly cycles.

they should implement an alert when someone dies it sends an alert.
Does the watch not already call emergency services when the heart stops? (Or something like that?)

If not, that sounds like a pretty easy fix.

I wouldn’t envy the person in charge of marketing for that one, but, it seems like a helpful thing to have.
