Lol, very safe use of words from Kuo.
"Could" and "if it meets requirements before production"

Basically don't blame him if it doesn't happen, but if it does - give him all the credit.
I ignore anything and everything that guy has to say.

I look forward to seeing how excited the yearly upgraders will be over the extra 1mm of screen around the edge.

Now let’s all hug and share a secret ?

Blood glucose and blood pressure ...THESE things are going to save lives.
I can see glucose monitoring eventually becoming available since we know it is possible to monitor blood sugar with a skin patch. But I am highly skeptical if we will see blood pressure monitoring unless their is a major advancement of medical science where a blood pressure cuff is no longer needed.

If you don't have a fever and you're not dead then chances are your body temperature is fine. Happy to help.
lol. yeah I was wondering if everyone in these comments (is) over 65 or something. I don't get the fetish for a body temp sensor or health sensors in general.

Even if they are not super accurate but they can just provide an indication that something might be off I would buy this for my mother right away.

Apple is all about marketing, but I think that’s the last thing they’d want to do.

The sensors and algorithms for the oxygen saturation and heart rate on current AW’s are quite accurate.

Pandemic isn't anywhere near over. Will be going on for years to come.
Quite frankly it is over since vaccines are avaible and are highly effective at either preventing infection or lessinging the severity of the symptoms so you do not end up in the hospital potentially dying.

The Apple Watch is a very slow moving device, two years of pandemic where temperature is an everyday thing for all. You’d think it would be a priority but hey real life is not very profitable.
True…but it’s also because there’s no competition, so no need to rush.

Samsung had blood pressure monitoring in their latest watch already
And for blood glucose monitoring to become meaningful, you’re gonna need a medical device (FDA approved in the US) and I highly doubt that Apple will go that way. And by meaningful I mean accurate measurements and not “trends”

Apple could very well get FDA approval for the Apple Watch since we already know it is possible to get blood glucose readings from skin patches from medical grade glucose monitors. So I imagine it would be a trivial task to pack the same kind of tech inside a watch instead of a patch. It would be a matter of getting the software correct and paying any patent royalties for the software/hardware.

All big tech want their employees to return to the office. These companies have huge budgets for HR that conduct studies on productivity. You honestly think WFH hasn't affected execution? Of course it has.

You might be able to make arguments about creativity being impacted from fewer impromptu encounters, but you're selling a lot of conjecture as "clear evidence".

Here's some more conjecture for you. M1 Macs came out in November, 2020, and my M1 Mini is the best computer I've ever owned. That was the end of the pipeline but clearly some execution was successful in the preceding 18 months. On the other hand, the Apple Watch has been stagnant since Series 4, which came out in September, 2018. Working at the office didn't do much for it in the ensuing 18 months (estimating lockdowns/teleworking started in March, 2020).

While technically they could, nothing about the FDA approval is “trivial” and includes years of clinical trials and such. Could they? Yes, will they? Doubtful

No need to put them in bold - - everyone knows those are the holy grails of smart watch sensors.

I'm sure Apple has a team of medical technology experts hard at work on them, but they are far from simple nuts to crack.

What's the point? You need an iPhone anyway. I don't see this as a priority, aside from the iPhone sending the alert to the Watch.

The Apple Watch's oxygen sensor likely isn't saving lives. It's mostly a gimmick. And as already mentioned, the Apple Watch is a medical device, for stuff like arrhythmia detection. Part of the reason is that it is much more accurate for stuff like arrhythmia detection.
I don't like being teathered to my iphone all the time. You know sometimes, I like to be out and about. Sorry if I am not part of that clique that have to have their phone attached. Oxygen sensor? I have anemia and need to get a grasp on my oxygen level. I have a "medical device" and have checked the watch against the finger and you know they match. So I am guessing from this argument, you are concerned that people would want to rely on the watch instead of buying your product? Most people have trouble finding the power button on their phone. So I wouldn't worry about it. If Apple does get approval for something that works, you can count on you still will be able to sell your devices.

What are you talking about? I don't sell medical devices. You're confusing me with someone else. I'm just telling you what I think about the lay of the land for Apple Watch features.

As for the oxygen sensor, Apple likely won't get FDA clearance for that anytime soon. In fact, I'm not convinced Apple will even try in the near term.

Probably because of WFH employees. Get them back to the office ASAP.

Edit: I'm absolutely not kidding. All the delays and bugs over the last 2.5 years must have a lot to do with employees "working" from home. This is why Cook and other big tech companies are so adamant that employees return to office. They clearly all have strong internal evidence that shows execution has been lacking since COVID.
So we can arbitrarily blame people without evidence of a problem? Can we blame senttoschool for all apple bugs?

I own a series 3 SS Apple Watch and it has been a champion. Except for sleep I wear it constantly, still good battery life, and the watch still looks beautiful. Because I want fall detection and a broader range of watch faces, EEG, O2, temperature would be nice (and whatever else is new), I will be upgrading to a SS series 8 this fall. I am really looking forward to it. Now to find a relative who would like a series 3.

usual Business and Marketing management "algorithm": dilute new features for the longest time (and number of versions) you can

That will be a great upgrade.

I'm surprised Apple has kept selling the Series 3 for so long though. Yes, it is their low cost option, but by 2021 some people were having problems even just installing OS updates, because their Watches had only 8 GB storage.
