Temperature? Convenient - yes, but killer feature? It'd might be more useful if we could see see the effect of diet changes on body temperature and metabolic rate. The killer features for a watch, IMO, are blood pressure and/or blood sugar monitoring. I'm just not sure if those are feasible in a wrist watch.

One thing's for sure, I hope we don't get a testimonial in an Apple presentation about how the temperature sensor saved someone's life.

probably the one I'll get. I just got a Freshly replaced Series 5 with a new battery, that should hold me over until the 8th.

I can't stop thinking about the origin of these rumors, just before announcing the new products this year, clearly looking to hurt sales (of course blogs/youtubers help that, by publishing them).
I do not know how valid they are with a year away...

Hope they gradually lower the SE's price to $199 (or even lower). The Series _ models are starting to get packed with too many features.
I‘m in the same boat. I want a fitness device and the Apple Watch is perfect, but I just don’t need the functionality of the Series _ Apple Watches. At the same time, the price is just too high compared to other quality fitness bands out there. The SE at $199 would be a no-brainer for me and as gifts for family members. Honestly, at $199 I would buy about 3 Apple Watches for Christmas presents this year.

Im still running the series 5 - will stick with it for another year or so. Watch updates don't interest me as much TBH......

I'm on a Series 4 and really don't see a need to upgrade quite yet. I'll see if the larger screen enables some game changing complications. If not, no upgrade for me.

Awesome, keep innovating and adding new features. My 4LTE is nearly 3 years old and its time for a new one. I will keep this information in mind when they reveal the 7 so I can decide if I want to save some money and get a 6 while waiting on the 8, or just go with the 7.

EDIT: To be clear, my 4LTE is in need of replacement because the battery is starting to not last as long. Maximum capacity shows 87% but unfortunately that missing capacity is what use to get me to nearly 24 hours of use. When I got the watch, for nearly a year, maybe closer to two years I would only remove it to shower in the morning. Now I have to take it off as soon as I get up and let it charge while I am getting ready. I went from 24 hours of battery life to 23, give or take. First world problems, I know. I'm just hoping the 6 or 7 will have similar, or better, battery life.

Just thinking out loud. What is the ratio when it comes to benefits and harm when it comes to being attached to all these devices 24/7?

I’m in the exact same boat, Series 4 is still going strong. That new design might tempt me though.
My series 4 just got put in a drawer recently. As I’ve posted before, I’m sick and tired of charging daily so am rocking a Garmin Venu (contactless payments, gps workouts, heart rate, notifications, and onboard music are enough for me). I’ll buy Apple again when I see 5 or more days’ battery life.

They should just drop the SE's price to around $229 and get rid of the Series 3. The SE is basically the Series 5 without AOD and ECG.

I had a Casio solar watch 30 years ago which took my temperature also.. Its not really useful for ambient temp, but more body temp.. Though your wrist isn't the ideal place to take that temp, maybe the sensor would show correct values if left on long enough.. Your AirPods seem a better place to take a temp though since in the ear is great... I know another orfice which would be even better, but lets not go there... :)

so, first the iPhone 14 is the one to get, now the AW8 ... guess no-one will get AW7 nor iPhone 13 then???

Well, I wil base my decisions whether to upgrade or not on actual features announced by Apple

When my watch battery gets to the point of being unacceptable I buy whatever current watch makes sense for me at the time.

The feature can be useful, or REALLY incredible.

It will be useful if you have to manually press something to measure temperature.

It will be incredible if it takes continuous measures automatically (for instance once every 1-4 hours or so). This way, you will be able to know you're sick before you feel the symptoms.

Right now I do it with Oura Ring, and it's been pretty good at predicting illnesses, but it only takes 1 measure per day (or it aggregates a few measures into a single one). I do feel like this is not enough.
