The temperature addition is long overdue, I think that something that is hugely beneficial and is just another great tool to add to the watch. I do question how accurate it will really be, being temperature checks in some respects, need to be completely accurate.

It shows the temperature around your wrist. It doesn't show 'core' temperature, and for healthcare issues, if someone thinks this will help them determine if they have COVID, you can 'have it', and not have a fever, or apparently run a high fever. The 'pulse ox' is a lot more diagnostic than a temperature probe. Especially one on an extremity. It's not almost useless, it pretty much IS useless... Measure with a chest band, or through the AirPods, or *something* closer to the core.

This is certainly an S-version year. 2022 is looking much beter!

You got that backwards. For iPhones at least (the only devices we got literal S-versions of), the S-versions are externally unchanged but have new features. The Watch S7, on the other hand, will be an external redesign without new (health) features. So the S8 Watch will apparently be an S-version, actually.

Starting to think I’ll stick with my Series 6 and 12 Pro. I need to get one of the new laptops this year anyway! No $ for all three. However if Series 7 has some killer new watch face the same way Series 4 was an enormous step up then I may not have a choice.

Am I the only one who has extreme doubts about the accuracy of all these medical things that Apple Watch is supposed to be able to measure?

Welcome the $500.00 Thermometer that can tell time.
……. In addition to like 20 other functions that it can also perform that you failed to mention. Plus, you yourself don’t even know the price tag this far in advance.

Regardless, nobody buys an Apple Watch just for the thermometer, they’re buying it for a plethora of other reasons, specifically this is just one of the many tangents with the thermometer were Apple is leading with more health functionality.

Taking one’s temperature is the most sensible health feature to add to the watch… not only would it track and predict fevers/immunity activity, people could be automatically alerted that they should avoid going to work/school/outdoors.

Not to mention the hypochondriac colleague I had to work with prior to the pandemic. He was always checking his temperature for the mere hopes of an excuse to stop working and go home… He could just continue actually working and have an Apple Watch tell him when his fears (pronounced: “hopes”) come true.

I started taking any innovation, especially Apple's with a grain of salt. Apple collects and will collect massive data about its users and use it for new "services", products. I won't be surprised if it becomes like a corporation that predicts and set your future as in the Westworld TV series.
This sounds utopian, but knowing what info you consume, what health you have, where usually go and others, it's a matter of time to get that point.

The powers to be like Google already have this built-in in their databases about you! It is old news. It is the year 2021! If anyone want to know about your personal habits and has $2.5K to spend, they know all of the above and more like want porn you like to watch for example and your buying habits! Scary but true!

Let's just ignore all the other features I guess. Also, it isn't $500 for the base model unless you're expecting a price increase.
Chill, Bro! I know.. I was just joking. But if the only new feature is a thermometer, I may just pass it.
And yes, it’s about $500 for the Aluminum 44mm with AppleCare+.

This is a very good feature. It will be good if Apple watch can measure atmospheric temperature also.

Awesome, keep innovating and adding new features. My 4LTE is nearly 3 years old and its time for a new one. I will keep this information in mind when they reveal the 7 so I can decide if I want to save some money and get a 6 while waiting on the 8, or just go with the 7.

EDIT: To be clear, my 4LTE is in need of replacement because the battery is starting to not last as long. Maximum capacity shows 87% but unfortunately that missing capacity is what use to get me to nearly 24 hours of use. When I got the watch, for nearly a year, maybe closer to two years I would only remove it to shower in the morning. Now I have to take it off as soon as I get up and let it charge while I am getting ready. I went from 24 hours of battery life to 23, give or take. First world problems, I know. I'm just hoping the 6 or 7 will have similar, or better, battery life.

I’m still on 6.2.8 on my S4, so I don’t know what the battery capacity is, but I have to do the same thing every morning and before bed. I also carry my cable with me in case my watch hit low power mode.

By that time I’ll have to charge my S4 twice in a day. I already carry my charger with me to work in case it hit low power mode.
Ouch. I have yet to need to charge my S4 more than once per day. I wear it to bed for sleep quality monitoring, so I've just needed to charge it for an hour or two each evening before going to bed.
