Just a couple weeks ago, I was saying to someone else that it would be cool if the Apple Watch took body temperature. So either Apple’s spying on me or it’s a coincidence lol

Your information/our information is all public. Thank the internet for that.

I've always thought that taking body temp was the easiest thing to do but Apple didn't do it because the temp cannot be accurately taken from the wrist. If they start doing that now, it begs the question why they didn't do this with the very first watch edition?

I have a Series 5. My battery's maximum capacity is 86%. I'm trying to decide if i should wait for the 8 or go with the 7.

Hold off on the 7 wait for the 8 with temperature(a thermometer in your watch)! Very important feature for me to have!

So many people seem to have series 4 and dont see a need to upgrade... the always on display from the series 5 was by far the biggest reason to upgrade of any Apple Watch.
I actually turned AOD off with my series 5. I just use the raise the wrist feature to see the display. I was seeing battery loss with the AOD.

Expectation is the thief of joy, or something like that. Seems like we are having our expectations lowered so we won’t be disappointed that certain features won’t be available until the next models.

Those that have decided to upgrade will do so anyway.

I’m a tad disappointed that temperature hasn’t been available for years, I mean the watch is connected to your body, it can’t be that difficult. We aren’t going for medical grade here, we’re looking for trends.

Getting your temp is the least useful measure to add to a device. Who needs regular temperature measures? The pandemic will be over a soon as natural immunity and vaccine immunity wipe it out then what use will it be to be able to measure temperature anytime.

Temperature? Convenient - yes, but killer feature? It'd might be more useful if we could see see the effect of diet changes on body temperature and metabolic rate. The killer features for a watch, IMO, are blood pressure and/or blood sugar monitoring. I'm just not sure if those are feasible in a wrist watch.

One thing's for sure, I hope we don't get a testimonial in an Apple presentation about how the temperature sensor saved someone's life.
Two killer features that are technologically impossible at this time. Don’t hold your breath.

Sure, AOD uses some battery.. But I end the day with plenty of juice still.. So frankly what's the big deal if I make it from 7 am to midnight with 35% left?

Heart rate, EKG, temperature, sooner or later these things can be used as a lie detector.
Series 15 will electrocute you if you lie about liking Apple.

Can you get reliable, consistent temperature readings from the wrist? I only know of 5 places where you can get accurate temperature readings on a human body: the forehead, the ear, the mouth (under the tongue), the armpits and the . in (_!_). I've never seen any medical professional or anyone take the temperature at the wrist.

Throughout Covid, my optometrist’s office takes temperatures using a forehead thermometer on wrists. I asked if it was accurate and the receptionist shrugged.

Because of progress? Because of iteration?
