I slightly want to flip out. What about the Mac?
Don't want to whine and moan, but Apple's change in direction away from the Mac – as evidenced so clearly now more than ever before – is truly a loss for me. Been with the Mac since the early 90s.
[/QUOTE]How about a functional and reliable keyboard?
Stop defending the indefensible.
Intel CPUs have gained 10-15% in single core and 40-50% in multi-core scores!
There is now a 15W 4C/8T CPU which would fit in the 13"MBP and 45W(?) 6C/12T CPUs for the 15" MBP.
See above. What a pile of ballock. Quad core 15w/28w is out. 6 core 45w/65w/91w is out. And have been for months. Are you trying to saying they’re useless when literally every other PC gain significant boost? And GPU? Well AMD (advanced microwave device) maybe. Nvidia? The forefront of innovation. From 780Ti to 1080Ti there was a 200% increase in just 3 years.
We already know it won’t have a dual camera for it’s rear camera.
It’s funny how we see $600 - $700 as “mid range” now. Flagship phones used to start at $650. I hope the pricing doesn’t get out of hand.
2nd gen SE with wireless charging, touch-ID under glass, and edge to edge screen please.
As expected, no SE2 - that was always a fantasy.
The 6.1" is definitely a surgical instrument targeting current iPhone 6 and 6s users. It has just enough of what customers want (thin-bezel and Face ID) and not too much to cannibalize the higher end phones (dual-lens and 3D Touch).
Ah, here we go, the hourly MacRumors macho ego-fest, where EVERYONE loses their cool AND face, NO ONE is "right", and everyone is a loser all round, and proves NOTHING, because:
~ It's ego, and "being right on the internet" appears to trump logic, and humility.
~ Arguing is lazier and easier than just walking away, and so we see how many lazy, rude people there are.
Well done chumps, keep arguing about nothing, that's the spirit. Aside from the moronic "debates" you all have, you gain NO credibility, and LOSE what you have... so well done.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
iPad with faceID will suckkkkkk. Unlike a phone, I use my iPad lying on the desk, the way you'd use a yellow notepad. At these drastic angles faceID isn't gonna work.
Curious to see how far Apple and others push this. Perhaps $2k flagships are not put of the question in another 5-10 years.Pricing will continue to increase because OEMs still have customers willing to fork over cash for diminished returns and marginal improvements. I am going to stick with the two-three phone upgrade model and buy the previous year's edition to get a worthwhile upgrade with lower price points.
As soon as September approaches, many will sell their Xs for lower price points. Clearance sales could occur too. If you do not mind having an "older" device, the X is a great option if the price was slash by $300 or so.
He has a point though. FaceID on iPad will be trickier as a lot of people don't even lift the device and they have it flat on the surface so how is Apple going to implement it remains to be seen. Please buy the 2018 iPad released in March of this year in that case. Do not talk for everybody here who want a Face Id iPad Pro !!

iPad from march is crippled device so don't be mean
I hate FaceID on iPhone and kinda didn't upgrade my iPhone 6 because of that. On the iPad though I think I'll be fine with it as long as its implemented right. I almost never use my iPad Air 2 in portrait mode so if I only use it in landscape mode I wonder how well it will work as iPhone X can't recognise you when in landscape (correct?)
The article had a lot of chatter about "marked innovation," but I didn't see anything that'd inspire me to buy.
When I was a kid, we used to joke about someone who couldn't "walk and chew gum at the same time." That's today's Apple Corporate. From Cook on down, its executives lack the ability to manage an company grown to its present size. As profitable as Apple is, it should be able to innovate across all its product lines simultaneously. Instead, we have a pitiful line of outdated Macs along with me-too entertainment products like HomePod, which copies existing Amazon products but at three times the price.
- In the iPhone market, I care not about a confusing and pointless array of screen sizes and find FaceID and forced BT headsets a big turnoff. The article does not even mention the most important potential improvement—a new Broadcom chip with 15 times the GPS accuracy. Will iPhones get it? Five years ago, I'd assume that was a sure thing. But with Tim "The Miser" running the show, I'm not so sure. Apple could probably save a few bucks not including it.
- In the iPad market, what's the future going to be like? There, Apple has sufficient competition, it can't focus on silly (iPhone) or doing nothing (Macs). But a heads up about future upgrades would be helpful.
- In the Mac market, what is there to say? Apple's offerings are likely to continue top be dreadful, limited to the inflexible all-in-one iMac and MacBooks that are so feature-restricted they ought to be sold to little girls in Barbie colors. Those on the go need powerful tools not skinny toys.
The sad reality is that there's no indication that Apple Corporate has the abilities of a Koch Industries. Here's a hint at the wide variety of industries that Koch Industries manages. They range from oil pipelines and water filtration to cattle and fertilizer. Apple can't even design iPhones and new Macs at the same time. That is pitiful!

What are you talking about? So, commenting about a thing while you don't know how it works huh? It can work when the device is on a flat surface unless the device is in nearly in the same plane as your face.
Same here. Apple is just leaving money on the table by neglecting to update their desktop and laptop computers. I really don't understand Apple anymore. Consumers still use desktops, so why has Apple given up on them. I fear that even if Apple does update the Mac Mini, it will have really low specs and non-upgradable by users. Such a shame how Apple has become so lazy even though iPhone sales have peaked. I've always owned Macs and I really hate to see them die out.I slightly want to flip out. What about the Mac?

AFAIK the device doesn't work in landscape mode so what lack of knowledge are you referring to?
See here for example:
https://www.imore.com/limitations-face-id-what-you-need-know
[doublepost=1530122566][/doublepost]Face ID does not work in landscape orientation
As currently implemented, Face ID only works when you're holding your iPhone X in portrait orientation with the TrueDepth camera system on top. You can be standing up or lying down, seated or rolled over on your side, but the TrueDepth camera system has to be lined up in the same direction. Perpendicular and upside down don't play.
huh? Your post make zero sense so I'm totally lost.Did you read what you talked about. Flat surface (AKA not the same THING), how the hell does that relate to this.
Get a damn clue.
He’s just not mentioned the Mac, but there are significant updates coming to almost all of the Mac lineup this year. Don’t worry, it won’t just be a ‘cheaper MacBook Air’.I slightly want to flip out. What about the Mac?

Probably October with the A12X. It wouldn't make sense to launch a new iPhone with A12 and then have it superseded minutes later by an A12X.
