Makes very good sense to make a 27 inch M1 Pro/Max. That will be 1:1 replacement for current and very popular 27 inch iMac. Complete reuse of the MBP innards into a new package.MCK's tweet now implies that Apple will offer two iMac models - an Apple Silicon version of the Intel iMac 5K with M1 Pro and M1 max and then a separate and unique iMac Pro.
I hope this isn't true, I really want a 27" 5K display with MiniLED and the same HDR capabilities as my 16" MBPIn the more immediate future, Kuo says that Apple plans to release an affordable display for consumers this year. Kuo says the display will measure 27-inches in size and not feature mini-LED.
This guy has a 100% track record:I hope this isn't true, I really want a 27" 5K display with MiniLED and the same HDR capabilities as my 16" MBP
The Pro Display XDR is beautiful but 32" is just a tad too large.
Yeah thats what I was thinking. Not so sure if this is reliable though. A lineup with M2, a new mac mini and a new laptop, and an iphone se makes a lot of sense for this event, if you then have an event later in the year with new iMac Pro and Mac Pro. Its a solid plan for 2022 as a whole.
If you dont have the new Pro macs to announce at the end of the year, how do you shuffle your announcements? Suddenly a March event makes a lot less sense.
Not launching an iMac Pro ASAP would be a massive failure. A lot of us here are wondering why we’ve even had to wait this long…
Apple will not launch an iMac Pro or a Mac Pro until 2023, while it still plans to release a 27-inch external display without mini-LED sometime this year, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today on Twitter.

Outlining his predictions for Apple's Mac lineup in 2022 and 2023, Kuo said that Apple plans to release a new high-end Mac mini and a 27-inch external display without mini-LED in 2022, while an Apple silicon Mac Pro and iMac Pro will not launch until 2023.
Kuo's prediction that Apple does not plan to release an iMac Pro until next year is at odds with information shared by display analyst Ross Young. Young, who also boasts a credible track record regarding Apple products, has said an iMac Pro could launch as soon as June this year.
The iMac Pro is expected to replace the 27-inch Intel-based iMac currently in the lineup and be sold alongside the 24-inch desktop computer announced in April 2021. Young has said the iMac Pro will feature mini-LED and previous rumors suggest a similar design to the 24-inch size.
Given the large discrepancy between the information shared by both Kuo and Young, it could be plausible that the analysts are referencing different devices.
Kuo could be referencing a true professional-grade iMac at the highest-end of the lineup, while details put forth by Young are simply referencing a non-pro iMac.
It's worth noting that Apple had previously used the "iMac Pro" name in a now-discontinued iMac, and despite one rumor suggesting the company will resurrect the name, it's debatable whether Apple will use the name again.

Just today, Mark Gurman noted that it's likely the display could be announced during the Apple event on Tuesday.
Kuo also confirmed today that Apple will launch a new high-end Mac mini this year and it's also expected to debut during next week's event. See our guide for a full rundown of everything we expect from Apple next week.

Sometimes what looks like blooming actually isn't, especially when it comes to blooming around letters. It's not light bleeding from the backlight but a design decision to add a halo effect to the font. Blooming on OLED displays is impossible by the way.Hard to determine whether Ross Young or Kuo will be right. Young has the perfect track record, but that could be because he tracks only displays, so he's talking to fewer people who make the mini-LED displays for Apple. Kuo is also a supply chain analyst but he's talking to everyone who makes stuff for Apple. Kuo has more sources, but a weaker track record, probably because he has to juggle a lot more sources and has to figure out who's more reliable. Because of that track record and also Apple's promise to complete the transition in 2 years (no Mac Pro till 2023?), I'm going to have to go with Young with fingers crossed.
If Apple only releases a plain LCD iMac, I'm going to wait. I really like those mini-LED screens on the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. Since my eyes are older and worse than the average person's, I actually see OLED and mini-LED the same (yes, I somehow see blooming on OLED, but I"m sure it's my eyes due to past eye surgeries). Those deep blacks are addicting.
I really hope a more powerful mac mini doesn't come with a more powerful price.

It sounds like the iMac Pro name may cover all larger iMacs from the base to the maxed out models. Forget about the old Xeon iMac Pro.Why keep the iMac Pro? It was a horribly expensive stopgap because Apple didn't have a better alternative in-between the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro. They seem to be working on that category now.
If Apple doesn't release a 27 inch iMac this year, I will after 44 years move on to another brand....
