This probably confirms no iPad Pro update this year, I believe. They wont do 2 updates this close.
Looking forward to seeing the 16” MBP :)

i wouldn’t be so sure. The iPad line has become a mess. Literally 10 minutes ago I had to tell my boss what the difference between the iPads are. Especially in regards of the „iPad“ and the „iPad Air“.

Same is starting to happen with the iPhone actually. The other day my friend asked me what the differences are between the iPhone 11 and the iPhone Pro and it went something like „the iPhone 11 is the entry model but it’s bigger than the more expensive iPhone 11 Pro. The iPhone Pro is better than the iPhone 11 but smaller. The iPhone 11 is basically what the XR used to be, compared to the iPhone XS“. The reply was: „so should I get an iPhone XS or an iPhone 11?“ and i started all over with „well ... the iPhone 11 is bigger than the iPhone XS but ...“ :D

If it becomes fact that the scissor keyboard comes back, I can finally upgrade my 2012 Macbook Pro. I've been holding off because I don't want the problems with the butterfly keyboard. When my wife's Macbook Pro required replacing I purchased a iPad Pro for her to avoid the butterfly keyboard. However, she's still not 100% happy with it. She still prefers a Macbook.

My guess it will be the same keyboard as the Magic Keyboard 2. That sits right between the old chiclet keys and the new butterfly keyboard.

I have been lucky with my current MacBook Pro and haven't had keyboard issues. I personally will miss the butterfly keyboard and I type incredibly fast on it.

This would really be a great time for one of that Tim Apple's pipeline statements.

The pipeline really seems great.
There’s an earning conference call coming up EOM, maybe Mr. Apple will grant your wish!

MBP 16”, iMac Pro, Mac Pro and the new 6K3K monitor still to come this year. Nothing from Kuo about the tracking tag or did I miss it?

So we're supposed to see a new keyboard design sometime this month according to this KUO's last prediction? I believe it was the MBA that was supposed to get it first. And now KUO's latest is that sometime next year for the 16" (which will be over priced as heck) and newer MBP's with the old style but improved keyboard that? Interesting, and if you go for an old style MBP and Catalina you can't use the program / functionality to have your iPad be an extension of your display because of old architecture? But there's a program in the App Store to BUY that does the same thing? Hmmmmmmmmm 🧐🤨

I have a 12.9” 2018 pro and this news certainly doesn’t make me want to upgrade. I’ve used the camera while testing some AR web implementations but generally a phone is better for that so I don’t see a need for the camera system.

the current pro is perfectly suitable performance wise for any editing and illustration work need I have and we still don’t have that full photoshop app to see how it handles, if Affinity Publisher released for the iPad and required an upgrade then I would, though that’s unlikely.

At this point I think the only feature they could add that would really make me want to buy a new one would be if they released a 15” iPad Pro. The Pencil with an even bigger canvas would be a fantastic tool to keep around the studio.
My wife absolutely loves editing photos on her 12.9” Pro. She would love a 15” as well. She barely uses Photoshop on her MBP now.
As far as the new iPad Pros, I will likely replace both my 10.5 and my wife’s 12.9 with these, or if there isn’t enough difference, but two refurb 12.9 from the Apple Store and save the coinage.

Kuo now predicts that Apple's refreshed 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook models will arrive in the second quarter of 2020, suggesting they will feature the much-anticipated scissor mechanism keyboards that the company is adopting wholesale.
Guess we now know who is to blame for the butterfly mechanism... the one that is leaving....

Good to see Apple backtracking here!
USB A is dead.
For some may be, for the rest of us....it's not.

so there is no need for October keynote?

I was hoping into iPad PRO coming this month and waiting like 3 months.. propably should have bought iPad pro 2018 with discount 3 months ago.

damn it!

I will be highly surprised if Apple refers to these as scissor keyboards. I’ll bet they don’t even go back to exactly what they had in earlier MBPs. It will be some new thing where Schiller can talk up some better than ever design.

+1 for Affinity products -- I'm learning Publisher as a means of replacing the ever-expensive and slugglish InDesign and plan to learn Photo to replace the affordable but resource-hog Photoshop. If they released Publisher for iPad, I would very much be down for the upgrade.

I'm already somewhat in need of an upgrade but can wait -- I'll keep my original iPad Pro 12.9" chugging while I look forward to the better Pencil design and FaceID.

With the death of aperture I‘ve pretty much given up on buying macs. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro for accessing legacy libraries but all the editing is done on the iPad now, with some 3d endering 2ork done on a Ryzen 9 3900x windows system.

The only thing really missing is a good image library management tool. I’d love to see Affinity release an Aperture like management tool with affinity photo for tagging/flagging etc across Mac/ipad/iphone so you could sort on the phone, edit on the iPad and then prep for print on the mac.

We have already started our plan to leave Apple by purchasing our first android phone. Our current iphone SE and 2015 Macbook air are nearing replacement. Guess we will wait until next spring to replace and see if Apple will actually provide a SE replacement and a Macbook air with a good keyboard before continuing to leave.

Remember, Apple left us, not the otherway around.

Hopefully the new scissor mechanism feels as close to the butterfly keyboard as possible - it terms of stability, touch, feel and responsiveness the butterfly keyboard is perfect, it's just reliability where it suffers. Trying to type on a pre-butterfly keyboard MacBook now feels very cheap and a huge downgrade. I'm hoping it'll at least be like the Magic Keyboard ones.

Scissor mechanism? Why the switch? According to the Apple faithful around here, the butterfly keyboard problems were much ado about nothing. Why change it if there was nothing wrong? I guess Apple is telling us there was something wrong.

I'm pretty sure no one said there was nothing wrong with it - it obviously had reliabliity issues. But then it wasn't as bad as most of the Apple unfaithful around here who make it sound like the every MBP broke when you tried typing on it. As ever the truth is somewhere in between the two. Apple obviously told us there was something wrong when they created a global repair program with an extended warranty. It might only be 5% of computers but it's not up to their standards obviously.

Mac mini with better graphics. Call it mac mini pro. That is all that I want , a system without a build in display and a hefty price tag.

That won't happen because you can buy eGPU and run whatever graphics you want (all of which would be a lot lot better than anything that can find inside of a Mac mini)

I'm at the upgrade point (and shopping) with my base spec 2015 MBA, but if they're going to put scissor keyboards in the whole line, I might be tempted to wait until spring/summer to swap it out for a 13" MBP.

Can't wait for a redesigned Macbook with a better keyboard and no touch bar. I'm glad I skipped the 2016 generation. My maxed out 2014 MBP is doing fine!
