when everybody wants an narrower notch or no notch, why apple would make this happen only on the smaller and the most cheaper one and not for the entire line-up
We get that 5.4" has even less space...but for all displays we would get something if they narrow the notch
Again, an girl will disagree with me
At the very least, Apple should relocate the top (headset) speaker from inside the notch to upper bezel like most modern Android phones. That alone would reduce the notch significantly while possibly improving the stereo imaging as speakers would become a tad more symmetric.

Ya know, they could just make it slightly thicker, like people have been asking for, and then put the killer 120hz display in it with a big battery.
The problem is Apple has this perverted obsession with making their products thinner, even at the expense of features and quality of the product.

People always seem to forget the extra weight that brings with it, iPhones are already heaviest in their class by a margin.

Apple doesn’t ship specs they ship features. What is the feature here that people are missing?
It improves how motion looks, so my immediate thoughts go to games, but also to video editing and art (like drawing smoothly). It could also be good for VR and maybe AR, good VR headsets go around 90hz-144hz although I'm not sure about AR. I can say for a fact that 120hz makes PC gaming look amazing and you can notice the difference going back to 60hz if you get too used to it. It's still a little superfluous and 60hz still gets the job done for most people, but then again, what isn't superfluous with the Apple Experience?

Thats why the thinnest phone Apple ever made was designed all the way back in 2014, and has gotten steadily thicker ever since.
The latest iPhone 11 series from 2019 are all thicker than the iPhone 5 from 2012.
That’s why The iPad 3 was thicker than the iPad to, just to add a retina display.
That’s why the current 16 inch MacBook Pro is thicker than the previous 15 inch, to fit in better speakers, microphones, and keyboard.
But go off about how Apple only cares about thinness, despite the majority of their product lines actually getting thicker over the past eight years.

Sounds like this year is just focused on basic tech bumps and next year is when we get a whole bunch of the cool things trialed on iPad (120Hz screen, maybe fingerprint reader in power button, etc). On the fence whether it’ll be worth replacing my 8 with a 12/12 pro, guess I’ll see what they actually announce.

It’s embarrassing to not have the 120fps most of the rivals’ phones already include.
The rivals phones also have to down scale the resolution to get 120 actually working, and take a huge performance and battery hit.
Plus, the $999 galaxy note 20 doesn’t even have a 120 Hz display. You have to go up to the $1200 galaxy note 20 ultra for that

Looks like I should hold off on a pro until next year then.

guess I’m going 5.4” for now and then maybe 6.1” pro next year, or hopefully a 5.4” pro....

either that or I get the 6.1” pro this year and then make sure to sell it next year when 120hz is out...

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!! Slimmer notch on 5.4"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

I was seriously worried about what they would do with a normal sized notch on the 5.4" screen when those screen leaks came out a few weeks ago. Reduce info on the "ears"? This is such great news. Good job, Apple.

That statement makes absolutely no sense as the article says Apple will ship the 120hz "feature" next year.

The fact that other phone makers have no issues implementing a 120hz display makes Apple look a bit behind the times.
The new Samsung S20 5G (see, it has TWO new features!) has a setting to enable or disable 120hz. The user can actually choose between display quality or battery life. To be honest, even with 120hz enabled, the battery life is excellent.

Apple could have easily put a 60hz/120hz setting in there.
