The EU demands Apple ship the iPhone with multi-system charging brick, claiming it's unfair if they don't.
iPhone chargers have a USB port, like chargers of other manufacturers, too.

Kindle comes without a charger, too. At least in Europe. Never heard of any legal action because of it.
Are you seriously saying that if Apple supplied a 20watt charger instead of the junkie 5 watt, people would still toss them in a drawer and not use them? I certainly would not.How do you figure that? People who bought phones would still get a new charger in the box with each phone, accumulating them beyond their needs, regardless if the charger was good or not.
I’m fine with this as long as they offer the power adapter at a reduced price. I’ll gladly pony up $9.99 for a genuine 20 watt Apple USB-C charger.
They won’t do this. I just bought some 18w chargers, and Aukey is around $11, and anker is around $15. You can bet that apple will charge $25 at least.I’m fine with this as long as they offer the power adapter at a reduced price. I’ll gladly pony up $9.99 for a genuine 20 watt Apple USB-C charger.
Steve thought this was so important that he once mentioned a box redesign during a keynote. I think it was when the iPod box stopped being a cube.
Apple is preparing everyone for no ports in the 2021 iPhone. Lol.No EarPods is totally acceptable—they’re not required to use the phone. But no charger? I just don’t see it happening.
But this is not a kindle, it's smartphone that costs $700-1K+. And this is Apple.. they get sued for matters far more frivolous than this all the time.
but if this rumor ends up being true I think a lot of people are going to be upset.
If Apple successfully sells the iPhone without a charger in the box, Samsung will copy the practice within 3 years... Just look at what happened with the headphone jack...Or include a fast charger like Samsung?
Nah, they will ask the sales person about charger offerings or reuse their old one.
Yeah, I agree, but I swear I recall him talking about how with the new boxes Apple could now fit more units per container and that meant that it used less fuel to ship devices.Jobs loved design so a mere box to us was art to him.
And saving money is always good.

I’m sure it will retail for $30. What I meant to suggest is that perhaps (although unlikely) Apple will allow you to purchase the charger at a substantially lower price at the time of purchase of a new iPhone 12 Pro.They won’t do this. This would be really bad publicity. A charger is needed to use the phone, and not everybody have a computer or another charger.
Every man and his dog have USB-A charger. That's probably true. But the iPhone 12 is rumored to come with lightning to USB-C cable. So that means most consumers will end up buying a new charger anyway (and many will opt for less safe 3rd party chargers). How is that good for anything (environment or whatever)? It will create more waste as now every man and his dog would throw away their old charger as the electronic waste.I actually like this idea.
Every man and his dog already have at least one USB charger by now. No need for more electronic waste. A large portion of these in-the-box chargers end up in a drawer and eventually in the trash can.

Maybe it will come with 2 cables, one for usb-a and one for usb-c.Every man and his dog have USB-A charger. That's probably true. But the iPhone 12 is rumored to come with lightning to USB-C cable.
