EU Caused this???????

Has anyone condidered that this may be a reaction to the proposal by the EU for one USB charging standard. By NOT including a charger Apple can say people can choose any charger therefore skirt any requirement to build in Andriod compatibility.

EU expects chargers to follow USB standard, which every iPhone charger does.

I actually prefer using my old 5W chargers because they are slow. I never need rapid charging and would prefer a slow charge overnight to reduce heat.

So I guess I don’t care one way or the other if nothing is included.

Shame on Apple if it’s true the iPhone 12 will NOT come with EarPods or a Charger. I can see the EarPods going away as everyone has a few pairs. But not including a charger which probably cost Apple $2 and is a necessity
Apples thinking has changed. They’ve become like all the rest looking to grab an extra dollar
How did “everyone” get “a few EarPods” and somehow not also get “a few” chargers?

This “leak” is BS and should rightly corrupt Kuo’s credibility. Why? The EU simply won’t allow this.

this makes no sense. why wouldn't they? They wanted apple to stop using a proprietary charger interface on the phone to cut down on ewaste. Why would they care if ANOTHER charger, or which there are already billions out there, is sold in every box.

Why is even still reported Ming Chi Kuo predictions nowadays? That guy is wrong all the time and literally all the time, every year I been seeing my news feed with stuff that I know it's not gonna happen and in fact it doesn't happen at all lol

Who's forcing you to buy Apple products?
TINA. This is not a free market. This is an oligopoly.

The other guy is selling all my data and building a psychological profile of me that can be weaponized against me at any time.

I am very surprised by the reactions, every car, bus, train and airplanes have USB ports for charging, furthermore all air/train/bus-terminals have USB contacts all over, modern houses have USB sockets next to power sockets, at work USB ports on computers and so on. So where is the need to force power bricks onto byers. And the same has been with the debate on fast charging if you need a fast charger or simply a charger buy one if not don't. It is a better solution for the planet and simply better for the buyer to make the decision based on his/her needs. There are tons of better solutions then a single outlet power brick that people misplace all the time.

Barclays said something similar this week. So now it’s two analysts. May both be wrong, but it’s another data point.

People with newer 11 pros, or iPad pros, macs etc, yes. What about the ppl who’s still rocking older iPhones? That Lighting to usb type c cable will be useless.
Then they have lightning to usb type a cables, and usb type a chargers, from those older iphones, and those work fine with new iphones.

I don't understand why everyone here is so affronted by not being provided with another charging brick. I have enough to charge my devices and a box of them I don't use. Do people here not have spare chargers? What do you charge your current phone with?

I agree. I just bought my daughter an 11 Pro and told her to continue to use the 12w charger from the iPad, and to unplug at 90%. She’s not getting another $1200 phone for at least 4 years so she needs to learn to take care of this stuff to make them last as long as possible. My launch day iPhone X is at 88% health, always slow charged on the wireless charger.

I have no problem with Apple not including one if there’s no price increase on the 12. After playing with my daughter’s 11 Pro camera I’m tempted to upgrade from my X, but I’m holding out for the next gen.

I think most people have at least one 5w adapters if they been using iPhones, but not if they have always used non iPhones and are making the switch. Many people don’t have an a 18-20 watt adapter and many, I’m sure, could use that faster charging ability from time to time.

if it’s for environmental reasons then I’m all for it. As long as Apple takes that additional cost out of the sale price of the phone, offers the charging bricks as an add on during purchasing at a discounted price for those who need one, and significantly reduces the packaging.

Sounds like a possible Price Drop for the 2020 iPhones (vs. years past) !

AAPL's biggest problem right now is that they've priced their iPhones out of reach of many.

And, because there is such a HUGE Disconnect between Main Street & Wall Street, AAPL MUST be very careful with this year's iPhones.

I would NOT be shocked if the 6.1" Pro was priced @ $899 USD ($100 USD less than expected).

Personally, I think that would be the smartest thing AAPL could do right now.

I have 6 chargers, when i heard news about leaving EarPods out of the box i thought why not remove charger too if it means lower price, because most of us already have chargers. Those who are new to iPhone are different story, but they are in very small minority. Personally i don’t need more chargers, but interesting to see how this goes and is this true news.

i don’t except any price drop. Isn’t iPhones always been out of reach for many? That’s why they are releasing phones like iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 11, XR on so on. Pro models never meant to be the mass device. Just like iPad Pro isn’t. It’s for those want to have the best model.

Oddly, I think I'm OK with this.

I have so many chargers laying around that I doubt I'll miss it, both Apple and aftermarket, that I doubt I'll miss it. And I've moved onto bluetooth, as imperfect as it is.

You can still buy an iPhone SE 2020 in order to keep the charger and charge the iPhone 12. Best deal.

They do this because you're suckers and they know it. You'll bitch and whine and stomp your feet, and then gleefully hand over your money and let them rip you off on the next release, because you have it stamped in bright red letters across your forehead: SUCKER.

This is huge for logistics. The box can be half the size now. I personally dont use the included charger or headphones. Surely others do and there are likely others like myself too. If they can reduce waste and put the money into something more meaningful, that would not be a bad trade off.

This “leak” is BS and should rightly corrupt Kuo’s credibility. Why? The EU simply won’t allow this.

Quite the opposite. The EU requires manufacturers to support charging by USB specifically to encourage them to not include a USB compliant charger since it would be wasteful in the increasingly likely case the customer doesn't actually need it.

I really don't understand these people that come to defend Apple even when at the most stupid things. This is clearly wrong and greedy. There is no excuse. The environment one is bulls*.

The environmental aspect is not bull at all. Maybe do some research of your own before commenting stupid things, do you also deny anthropogenic climate change?

Me: No charger, fine. No EarPods, fine. So I will pay less for the iPhone then?
Apple: 😂

You'll pay less for it than you would if those accessories were included, yes.

Shame on Apple if it’s true the iPhone 12 will NOT come with EarPods or a Charger. I can see the EarPods going away as everyone has a few pairs.

Exactly, USB compliant chargers are now almost as ubiquitous as wall power sockets. Including USB compliant chargers with every unit is nowadays as wasteful as if all 115/230 V electric appliances included a dedicated circuit breaker for the house's breaker box.

It doesn't have to be a charger from an iPhone, it can be any USB compliant charger. I'm pretty sure all non iPhones from recent years come with such chargers as well.

im Amazed all Aren’t using wireless chargers...far easier. Even on a desk it’s fine.
