No charger? If it’s true, maybe I’ll keep my 7 for 1-2years more, unless than iPhone 12/12 pro will be cheaper than last year models.

This is fine. 3DS had no charger, still sold like hotcakes.

Chances are you already have a charger, oftentimes better than the one Apple ships in the box. Less waste is always good.

It will include the lightning cable in the box, so you can just plug it into any USB charger which most people have anyway from an old(er) phone.

On the one hand this reduces waste for an accessory that most people probably already have way too many of, but on the other hand Apple is just doing this to increase their margin, just like they did with the headphone jack adapter.

I remember the time when Apple only recommended using their own branded USB chargers, when batteries were exploding due to cheap no-brand chargers. I wonder if iPhone now have some protection circuit built in to prevent over voltage or something, because it would be quite odd to not include the charger and yet still expect people to buy it from Apple. I guess any USB adapter will have to work, even officially.

If the price stays the same while accessories are eliminated, the price actually goes up. For the price to stay the same Apple would have to reduce the cost of their phones.
Well no the accessories would be an extra cost from apples point of view so if you want same priced phone no accessories...

Question is would people care that much? I mean I have an 18w charger from last year so I need more chargers each year? No...so for me I could care less

Probably when you purchase the phone they will ask if you need a charging block, included free, or at a small cost, if needed. This tech is moving towards wireless charging anyway, eventually portless. Personally I have never used the charging blocks.

I was more ticked off when they removed the extension cord from MacBook packaging, which is pretty essential in my practice. Although it's only $19, which when considering the price of a MacBook, isn't much.

Apple will still sell millions upon millions of phones. Pre-orders will likely suffer this year but that can be attributed to COVID decimating the economy, not Apple's decision to not include a brick in the box (assuming this rumor is true).

Most of us already have many chargers. This will help the environment

I can see how spending an extra $20 for a charger can be challenging for the under-employed MR set

How dare they do this! Be mad and make sure to yell out your window! Post about it everywhere!

any excuse necessary I guess. people who buy Apple products already have their panties down around their ankles. Now they actually turn around and say please, more, I want more! Don’t enable Apple like this. It’s embarrassing.
