I have mixed feelings about this if it turns out to be true. I have at least 10 chargers lying around in drawers, so I wouldn't mind the opportunity not to add to the clutter. But I'd prefer being given the option to either include a separate charger at no additional cost when I order the phone or reduce the price of the phone if I don't.

You wait and see how the next iPhone in a few years won’t include free updates. You’re gonna have to sign up for some kind of Apple subscription which will entitle you to iOS updates for phones and laptops.

The reality distortion field is even more powerful these days than before.

Ive defended apple in the past. I didn't think getting rid of the headphone jack was a mistake. I didn't think not including EarPods was a mistake either.

But this is a mistake. No matter what rationale they use its nothing other than pure greed and the backfire they get from everyone including the media will be huge. Just not worth it.

If this is true I’m done with Apple.

If anyone tries to rationalize this you should be ashamed of yourselves.

From an e-waste perspective, no phones should come with chargers at this point. If Apple actually reduced the price of the phone to account for the lack of accessories, there would be nothing to criticize here. It's unlikely they will do that, but I have to see the price of the iPhone 12 before determining if this move (if true) is good or bad. Should I be ashamed of myself for looking at my pile of unused Apple chargers and thinking this is stupid?

I do not think this is the time to pull the plug on EarPods or a charger, it just feels a bit too soon. It seems as if they‘re trying to push wireless charging, which is honestly both too slow and inconvenient.

Most of us already have many chargers. This will help the environment

That is exactly right!

In 2020, I guess that almost anybody has numerous USB chargers lying around at home and many headphones. I have at least 5 of each, I don't need another charger or ear plugs.

Imagine the pile of chargers and earplugs you would have, if you pile up 50 million of them! I hope that the rest of the industry will follow Apple's lead in this.

My bike computer didn't come with a charger, nor did my Garmin Fenix or my daughter's TomTom. Nether of my kids' Nintendo 3DXLs did - and that's just off the top of my head. Despite this, I've just checked and I've got 9 of them sat in a cupboard, and that doesn't include those I've got dotted around the house in actual use (or are still sat wrapped in their iPhone etc boxes for when I sell them). Even when I do have another device that needs charging, I'll tend to just use one of the chargers already in use and swap it with whatever was already charging in it, it's not as if anyone needs one charger for every device they own.

Ultimately if Apple are going to give me another charger, I'm going to pay for it, even if that means not having one means no price increase rather than an actual discount. Sure, this may be a way of Apple cutting costs, but in reality the impact on me will be zero, in the same way as when pre-iPhone phone manufacturers stopped bundling crappy airplane-quality earphones with their mobiles.

If they actually keep the price down I actually think this is a good thing. I have about 20 of these power bricks already... and I use a wireless charger, or plug it into my computer. Many places including a hospital waiting room I was in last week have usb ports for charging your devices as well. Hopefully this also cuts down on waste ending up in the landfills.

I say shock the world.. release iPhone 12 with no port at all.. and that would explain why there is no need for a charging brick in the box.. oh wait that rumor was already out there at the start of all this. Just wait till September my friends.

It’s bad, regardless of the price.

Personally, I like choice. I don't want to be forced to buy a specific charger or audio device. If it's in the box, you are paying for it, whether you like it or not.
android world is for you. If there was just apple in the world , then that would be a problem, a big one, but nowadays....you choice what you want
