Looking further ahead, Kuo says he also expects all the new 2022 iPhones (tentatively called the ‌iPhone‌ 14 series) to be equipped with the same improved Ultra Wide camera with f/1.8, 6P and autofocus.

Yes yes, that's all very interesting, but what about the 2023 phones? They are only three years away now. Shouldn't we be speculating about them too by now?

Next year will be very much an ‘S’ year. Historically in my opinion S years have been the better ones for one reason or another so even if it’s not called that I’m still somewhat tempted to wait. The 3GS fixed the speed, the 4s fixed the speed and antenna, the 5s went 64bit and had longer OS life. The 6S had much longer OS life and double ram and performance. Then we move to the 3 year cycle with the 7 or an SS release. The X (which I have) the battery has always been a bit naff, short sale life. The XS fixed the battery issues and gave major camera upgrades, the 11 is then the SS release and is a very refined product. So now we start again with the 12, my guess next year is the display, battery, 5G and camera improvements is the biggest gain over this years so is it enough?
Xs did not get a major camera upgrade its the 11 that got a much better camera

Technically there was never an iPhone 1 or iPhone 2 so....
The original iPhone was the iPhone 1 they skipped 2 by calling it 3G . I didn’t say that they wouldn’t skip iPhone 13 just that they didn’t skip iOS 13 so apple isn’t worried about it being an unlucky number

I’m still planning to hold out till 2022 and stick with my 4 year upgrade cycle. By then I would hope that 120hz is on year 2 and battery is approaching iPhone 11 levels.

Two things: Battery and No Notch are my selling points. I'm not super duper professional photographer to care that much about every single upgrade on the cameras, c'mon. 120gh display would be nice too. I want 4G phone not a 5G.

No Touch ID? Didn't Tim Cook learn anything? The iPhone SE (2nd generation) is sold immensely well this year, and Touch ID was one of the many reasons why. The COVID-19 pandemic is likely going to be around until a vaccine is available, which, at the earliest, could be middle or late 2021. Therefore, people will likely have to wear masks when the 2021 iPhone is released, and Face ID doesn't works with masks. Only Touch ID works with masks. What horrible leadership by Tim Cook if the 2021 iPhone lacks Touch ID!

Errr all this is about is the camera...nothing else.

I would not be getting it anyway as I'm buying the mini this year, but I really hope they ship a Pro mini at some point.

🤞🤞🤞
Yea when the rumors first started I was so excited when they said the pro was gonna be the 5.4 one. That sounds amazing and I can’t wait till that day either I’m buying it instantly. Maybe there isn’t enough space for the pro features to fit in something that small tho

I am thinking.... if someone told me now that the 13 mini would come with lidar sensor i would wait a year. If it dos not i would just order the mini 30 minutes from now.

There was never any marketing for any model called the “iPhone 1” or “iPhone 2” so FAKE NEWS.

I don’t think 5G is really possible this year, especially with the 12 Mini and its tiny battery.

Next year’s iPhone 13 will be the first year where the iPhone has 5G and it won’t destroy your battery. Think Qualcomm’s newer modem (currently exists, but iPhone 12 doesn’t have it).

Omg, not only that he’s talking now about the iPhone 13, he also talks about the 14 🤦🏻‍♂️
