Yes you’re correct in that a 6.7 inch phone is what a small number of vocal customers want. Thank you for proving my point
Of course they are. Apple is a business.
That is clear to see, but it’s a poor strategy and will eventually see sales drop when everyone sees through it.It’s called product segmentation strategy, with a decoy product strategy built in. Apple wants all of you to buy the most expensive iPhones. To help with that decision, they created lesser priced phones that is slightly cheaper but with lesser spec so you will justify “might as well get the $1000 one.”
Upsize your happy meal!![]()
And so what? You’re still buying apple products.
Times have changed.
Maybe it’s good thing Cook is CEO.
People have figured out how to buy cars. They can figure out how to buy iPhones.
On the contrary, we have seen Apple keep increasing YoY revenue even in the last two years of the pandemic. That is clear to see, but it’s a poor strategy and will eventually see sales drop when everyone sees through it.
Tim Cook has ruined Apple.
This. That would be frustrating. I, for one, like the higher end features of the Pro models, but I can't stand the giant phone.
I know what you mean - I find the pro max way too big and heavy but I realise that I’m an exception amongst high end buyers (not that I am one - still rocking an XR here 🙄😂).I hope this isn't true, but it probably is. Not everyone wants a giant phone, but some of us want better features. I tried it one year with an XS Max and I hated it. Way too big and heavy.
Take the Ultra. I would love an extra action button, and the flat screen. Make an Ultra, shrink it down and make a 45mm size that fits smaller wrists better. If course it would sacrifice some battery life, but it would still be an improvement over the series 7/8. I can live with 24 hours instead of 30.
The 6/6S era went too far on the thin, light phone design at the expense of battery life and durability, but I feel like we are going in the other direction. My 14 Pro can't sit flat on a table even in a case because the camera bump is massive. Even the regular 13/14 pro is a little heavy for my tastes. If they make the 15 max have an Ultra-like gap in features, I will hold onto my Pro and transition away from the Pro line.
Not talking about the year on year revenue gain. Money isn’t the only factor in what’s make a great company. On the contrary, we have seen Apple keep increasing YoY revenue even in the last two years of the pandemic.
Apple has a very strong brand. And since the competitors are mostly incompetent, Apple is in a unique position in maintaining their high margins without much disruptions even if they stumbles once or twice.

The soul of the company has been diminished since Steve’s Jobs died. The products aren’t anything to shout about anymore which is why they are trying to charge the highest prices they can whilst the gravy train lasts. The products just aren’t worth the money anymore.
Apple still has a very strong brand for now but if those price increases continue they will start to suffer. I mean I’ve upgraded to every iPhone since 2007. But I can no longer justify £1250+ each year for the same phone. So I am actually skipping the iPhone 14 Pro.
Unfortunately due to the failure of the mini and the fact that most high end android phones are huge, that’s the way that the market is going.
It seems that the majority of people buying high end models are fine for swapping ergonomic usability for more features.
And apple will likely be able to get away with using the much lighter - but more expensive titanium - if price isn’t too much an issue and they’re happy with hitting a near $1399-499 starting price.
Nobody’s forcing you to spend $1000 every year. Apple has a breadth selections of iPhones at different price points. If you only think you should get the Pro models, that’s on you.
In the end, are you still an Apple user? Yes? So Apple got you anyway no matter what soul you think they have.
Apple is now selling an $800 Apple Watch which is an iPhone accessory. A $1500 iPhone Ultra model is not too out of the ordinary. In a recession/inflation, Apple is seeing more purchases of their Pro iPhones. I doubt Apple would “suffer” anytime soon. Like Jobs said, if people don’t like it, they won’t buy it, the market will sort itself out, and so far the market doesn’t mind Apple’s price points.
Phones have OLED screens, and it is relatively expensive to miniaturize components. The Pro range should be the only iPhones in the market those below it are junk. Price points on the Pro are out of whack. I don’t think any phone should cost more than a laptop.
Phones have OLED screens, and it is relatively expensive to miniaturize components.
Many phones such as the Nothing phone for example more recently have OLED displays at 120Hz and they cost less than half the price of an iPhone. Theres absolutely zero justification for how the iPhones are currently priced.Phones have OLED screens, and it is relatively expensive to miniaturize components.
That is clear to see, but it’s a poor strategy and will eventually see sales drop when everyone sees through it.
