Yeah, I find the max too big as well. I'd be annoyed if I missed out on features just because I don't want a phone the size of a tablet.
Exactly. Glad that the Pros now are strictly the same features as the Max phones. Battery has been solid for me on my 14 Pro even given the software issues that iOS 16. Hopefully 16.1 resolves it.

Ive been saying for a long time all these product splits are nothing but money grabs.

If they were truly about making great products the only iPhones available would be the iPhone 14, no pro naming, just all the features of the Pro but just called the iPhone 14.

It would be at the same price point as the iPhone 14 also.
It’s called product segmentation strategy, with a decoy product strategy built in. Apple wants all of you to buy the most expensive iPhones. To help with that decision, they created lesser priced phones that is slightly cheaper but with lesser spec so you will justify “might as well get the $1000 one.”

Upsize your happy meal! ;)

that would be terrible Idea as I love iPhone Pro features but cannot stand holding hefty heavy tall phone as I like the regular 6.1 Inch Pro Model I hope that is just a rumor

Just make the 15 ultra 6.1 and 15 ultra 6.7.

drop the normal lines and drop the ultra‘s by 50$.
950$ and 1050$

they can just sell the 14 pro’s for 100$ less each if they want a cheaper option for the same year. Once 2024 comes the ultra 15’s get dropped to the 100 less line when the 16’s come.
I really don’t see a point in having the cheaper models anymore unless it’s a smaller version.

Can we please just get a version without a camera bulge? Please and thank you.
Would be nice for the non case users like myself. Most people use cases that make the camera flush anyway so I don’t see them doing it anytime soon.
Id rather then just make the camera the whole back top so it doesn’t wobble.

Titanium 'pro ultra' perhaps.

At least it would be lighter

I really hope they *don't* return to differentiating features between Pro and Pro Max. I'd love a bigger screen as much as anyone, but at some point the device becomes too big and heavy for truly mobile users. Try sitting down with a Max in your front pocket. The regular Pro should never be second class to the Max for this reason alone.
And then nobody shall have more features than you just because you don’t want a big phone?

I really really hope not. I can't stand that big of a phone. I'm ok with it having slightly better cameras, that has happened before a few times.

Just don't get too crazy with it, we ARE still paying for a pro phone even if it's smaller.

Choosing an iPhone was easy until plus versions. You get same hardware and just pick the right size suitable for you. I can understand that some would like to have an higher end with better camera etc so, introduction pro and pro max was reasonable. Until 12 line up thigs were easy. You have same "engine" in all four models, a bit better camera setup in pro versions. 13 lineup was okay but with 14 you get old "cars" in new colors. All of a sudden choosing an iPhone is difficult. And with Ultra things would be worse. Apple is going through the path of Samsung. Soon we gonna have a new iPhone every other month! Probably an android version too😁

With the huge price increases outside the US I think Koh is onto another loser with this one, just like with the iPad Mini and Apple Watch 7 he was wrong on. They may well have more feature disparity but it won’t be down the ‘popularity of the iPhone Pro Max’.

If further proof was ever needed that Cook is the new Sculley. A mess of different models that lack clarity, to maximize profit and harm the customer. Brace for the new iPhone Quadra 4000 Pro Max Ultimate! Meanwhile, Jobs is creating a mini black whole in his coffin due to lightspeed spinning.

I can’t get my head round what a terrible brand the Ultra is. Pro sounds better. The current Ultra watch isn’t for everybody it’s more aimed at outdoors. Are they going to do the same with the phone? I am surprised more people want the Max. If they did bring a folding iPhone 16 after that it would be a confusing line up like Samsung Ultra Fold Pro. Almost a Samsung line.

I know this is common in the Android world, but I've been happy that Apple hasn't been doing this (well, mostly).

Actually, Apple has been doing it since the 6 Plus, then they stopped for a bit but not for long. 12 Pro Max had a superior camera, for instance.

It’s awful because there are many of us who just don’t want a huge phablet to get better internals. I get them having bigger batteries, but not other hardware.

Great, that's all we need: more fragmentation. It used to be iPhone, then there was iPhone and iPhone Pro, then Pro and Pro Max. Lets add a third category just for the flagship version, plus the two standards, and a low cost version. Didn't Steve Jobs work to eliminate so much fragmentation when he came back to apple?
Jobs worked to eliminate dozens of different similar products with little differentiation, not a handful of clearly different (see: price difference what really matters to consumers, because in the end everyone has a specific budget) ones.

Apple's ‌iPhone 14‌ and ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus are reportedly seeing demand that is "obviously lackluster,"

Maybe because the 14 is basically the 13 with some new color options
The greatest majority of people don't upgrade from the previous model, they keep their devices for several years. Only a small fraction of fanatics of technology upgrade yearly.

Jobs did what was best for a company on the brink of bankruptcy, just as Cook is doing what’s best for a company seeking to maximise sales by targeting every price point available.

This just means that different people are needed at different points in a company history. Jobs was right for his era, but he would have been a disaster for the Cook era. Cook is amazing, and has been responsible for most of the achievements of Apple, but not the initial innovation and concept that Jobs provided. Cook has refined the culture and expanded it, and has done as fine a job as any CEO in American history, if not world business history.
