Huh? So what happens to Face ID? And Apple is suddenly gonna jump from 12MP to 48MP?
48MP is for 8K (8k roughly translates to 48MP) and for photos will use binning (so basically stays 12MP) and FaceID will go under the screen (which supposedly is a lot easier than the camera under the screen ).

Looks like they are switching out to Touch ID just like the iPad Air and Mini. Still sticking to my 2023 upgrade plans.

And what about Face ID? Do people that make predictions have any idea what's in the notch?
This guy knows everything. He never disclose any real reason behind his prediction. All reasons he disclosed before are total BS.

I guess that's for protect his data source.

"In terms of the proportion of shipments and average delivery time [...] iPhone 13 & mini are 50–55% and 0–2 weeks, respectively, both lower than iPhone 12 & mini’s 60–65% and 1–2 weeks. Therefore, the preorder demand for iPhone 13 & mini declines."

Even fewer consumers looking to pre-order the mini. No wonder Apple will delete the 5.4" model next year.

Megapixels are far from everything, but they're still something. And 12MP is getting pretty long in the tooth. It sounds like since it's a multiple of four times the resolution of 12MP they will be using quad pixel binning to improve low light. You get the best of both worlds: better daytime resolution and better noise at night, just at the same resolution it would've been before.

48MP for 8K recording.
Precisely. Each 8K frame is 33MP. This gives them room for cinematic image stabilization or whatever it is called with the center of the image being recorded with a margin around it that it can move into if there are sudden bumps or jolts. Will probably only be 8K30 and not support some of the more advanced video modes, especially since ProRes is already limited to 4K30.

Rumors have been suggesting that those will go behind the display and the camera will stay in front until there is a good technology available to hide the camera without making the images look terrible, as some Chinese phones have demonstrated. The tradeoff isn't there yet. As for the camera, see above for why.

iCyclops.
Nobody will call it that, lol. Hole punch displays are really common right now and have been around for years. Apple will not stand out in this regard and nobody will be making fun of it—except perhaps to point out how late they are to the party.

Rear cameras had 12MP since the 6S and even the 13 Pros have that… I do not believe that Apple will jump to 48 MP, just doesn’t make sense. And what resolution is needed for 8k? 33M last time I checked…

Leaks mean nothing now, a whole design change can happen in the last month so why should be listern to leaks anymore

If they can do most of the stuff rumored for the 14 and keep the 13 battery life, then this is gonna be a killer phone. The 13 didn't temp me at all to upgrade from my XS Max.

tbh, that looks worse than a "notch" (and the notch doesn't bother me). The notch at least looks contiguous with the edges of the phone / bezel, whereas the "hole punch" just looks, well, like someone shot a hole through your screen.
I agree, the hole-punch design looks weak. I always joked that it looks like someone literally took a hole puncher to your phone. It's even worse in designs where it's not centered.

I'd actually prefer an oval or other shape than a plain round hole, if they must go this route. Otherwise just stick with the notch and make it smaller. The notch is aesthetically pleasing at least.
