Just FYI AT&T has a 14 day return policy. You can call them and they send a prepaid return package for free or you can go to any AT&T store.

I want no part of this heat issue with my 15 Pro and mine almost burned my hand on a Diablo session. It got better after indexing finished but it’s still a big issue for me.
I have a 15 pro max from launch day and just played 30 min of Diablo full brightness at the max FPS and graphics and my phone wasn’t even warm. Just ever so slightly. This may be just a few poor units…

Apple really made it easy NOT to update this year. lol a disaster

Right? Not only are the 15 Pros the most boring upgrade in years, they also have overheating issues. It seems we're going back to the Apple era when they were obsessed with thin devices...which overheated and throttled (MB Pros).

Maybe it’s an app that’s not optimized. I just looked at my battery usage says 6 hours on the Home Screen. So something is off.

Overheating iPhone + case = CPU suffocation. High temperatures are also a problem for the battery. As they gave batteries as in 14 pro + high temperatures, the condition after a year will be not 90% but 85% ... Well, Bravo Apple

Am coming from a back up. But only having overheating & battery drain on the 15 pro max when making cellular phone calls either regular phone calls or FaceTime audio through cellular. There has to be a software problem. When using WiFi calling, the problem does not exists. Is only with cellular. 30 mins into a cellular phone call it went from 100% to 84%. Then spent 25 mins with Apple support and it came down to like 64% percent and the phone was so hot you could barely touch it.
During the initial setup and restore my 15 Pro was burning hot to the point that a message appeared and stopped charging until cool down.

After 5 days it is pretty back to normal EXCEPT during phone call. After 10 minutes it becomes very hot and the battery drop very fast (ie 1hr call battery 50% to 18%)

Well, I've been toying with my 15PM for about 2 hours now. It got a little warm when I transferred my stuff over from my 14PM. Not "hot" by any stretch of the imagination.

What really struck me was how light and well balanced it was in my hand. Much more balanced than my 14PM and lighter than any of the previous regular sized Pro's I had.

I also toyed with the zoom camera a bit. It's impressive.

So far, it's early. very early. But right now I am overall impressed enough with the weight reduction, improved balance, updated zoom camera and USB C to feel as though it was worth an upgrade.

Time will tell, and don't doubt for a second I won't come back here and bash on it if I think the thing gets way too hot.

Not sure if it matters but mine is just a pro not a max.

No case on mine, not sure if that makes it worse (hand directly on the phone with no case shielding heat).

Also I wonder if they might be using different battery manufacturers and if so could that be contributing?

Also I got the 512GB drive, if that makes a difference.

Lastly maybe something software related? If so that would be the best news as it could be fixed.

look at it this way.

If they lower the CPU from 3.7 GHZ to 3.4 GHZ or lower to cure the heat problem YOU GET BETTER BATTERY LIFE!

I read someone mentioning that the 15 Pro Max got hot during a phone call. Just spent 33 minutes on the phone with my dad, not only did my 15 Pro Max *not* heat up in the slightest, the battery indicator was still at 100% after the call.

I’m guessing that either some users are seeing overheating and/or battery drain due to “new phone file indexing” or whatever, or maybe there are some bad samples out there.

It's no surprise that you're going to cook your phone when doing stuff like high-end gaming. It's just a lousy form factor for heat dissipation, especially with a glass back. You can only really go 5-10 minutes without throttling.

But if your iPhone 15 Pro is overheating under normal usage (something I haven't noticed), that would probably be an issue that can be addressed in software.

But those items are fetching hundres of thousands of dollars at auctions, though LOL

Right, Steve Jobs never launched a complete failure of a product. For example, he would have never launched Macintosh TV. The Apple III. The Lisa. The Moto ROCKR iTunes phone collaboration. The Powermac g4 cube. The Hockey Puck mouse. MobileMe. /sarcasm

No, Apple isn't "in trouble."

Literally every iPhone has had "issues" you could list here, since the first gen. A small subset of people with a bad batch. My 14 Pro Max battery life was at 88% as of last week, and my partner's has 97%. We got them the same day. it doesn't mean the entire lineup is garbage or that Apple Is Doomed (TM).

Hey now, I still have my MobileMe email address! I wish I got @Mac though :(

Not only is it an underwhelming upgrade in the iPhone cycle, but it seems to have more issues than previous iphones in recent memory. Not good.

Correct, he would have never launched the Macintosh TV. He was deep into NeXT land by that point.

I

I mean you should know that such small a device with super limited thermal abilities would heat up like ****ing crazy

It’s not rly made for 4k editing y ‘know
of course, but still- i won't expect it to overheat worse than any other phone.. no? unless all this is exaggerated

I haven't noticed my 15 pro getting hot.

Upgraded from an 11 pro had it since launch, although it is not revolutionary its really is a great upgrade man this thing feels so good in the hand. Unpopular opinion but the titanium blue colour looks incredible. Cameras are also a huge upgrade and the screen with pro motion makes the phone feel so seamless.

Im super happy with my upgrade. If your upgrading every year ye its small updates if your upgrading 3-4 years its really feels like a big increase.

Once a lot of people get exposed to this issue, Apple is really gonna get hammered.
I am getting strong vibes of Butterfly Keyboard here. Lot's of folks dismissed the issue since it doesn't affect them (yet). Another half don't even own the machines, they just feel like chiming in, thinking this was another nothing-gate. Look what happened next.
