Just when you thought being a meteorologist was an easy job. Welcome to random rumors less accurate then the weather. Here’s my guess the next iPhone will be solid gold…..this just in its not.

Samsung was able to pull it off just fine. Why is it so hard for Apple. By the time Apple decides to add the feature it might be too late.
Apple could easily do it, they just won't. They made claims about how much more secure FaceId is over TouchID. And they usually don't back on what they say. Unlike Samsung that made fun of Apple for having no headphone jack or having a notch, just to release products afterward with notches and no headphone jacks.

As much as I'm not the biggest FaceID fan, I don't think this tech is ready currently. Have used phones with it before, and currently have an LG Velvet with under screen fingerprint. It constantly doesn't read the print, or says it was too fast, etc. Really wish we could just have TouchID in the Apple logo, or in the power button.

The issue with TouchID is that is require interaction and is not automatic like FaceID.
I would argue that it's not an issue, but a benefit. I hate how Face ID tries to authenticate when I'm just holding my phone in my hand and walking around. It keeps retrying until it runs out of attempts, then I am forced to enter my passcode when I go to actually use my phone.

The benefit of Touch ID is that it only tried to unlock when you wanted to unlock. I never had false attempts because I controlled whether my finger was on the home button.

The best touch unlocking is on the back of the phone, not interfering with other buttons and functions, just pure simplicity. You unlock with your index finger that has no other function at that time, on the way out of pocket or wherever, no delay, no nothing - sometimes the best is/was already here :)

This is fake news to people buy the iPhone 14. Than suddenly when iPhone 15 is presented, it has a “secret feature” a hidden Touch ID built in the ceramic glass where this was only possible by Apple’s amazing collaboration with their hard- and software team.

Why not add it to the back of the phone or on the side? Keep Face ID as well. Done!

Although on the back would pose a problem for anyone who puts a case on the phone - like myself as I'm such a klutz and drop the phone far too often!

Why not just on the power button?

The solution is simple. But it’s Apple and they like to make simple things difficult.
I think the issue of TouchID on power button would be keeping IP68 rating. It's doable on iPad because no IP rating is needed. But since the power button is a physical button (instead of a solid state TouchID like in iPhone 7/8/SE), maybe it's going to be much more challenging.

If this is true, they really should just implement touch ID into one of the side buttons or on the back, like some Android phones did. Face ID does not work for all situations, plain and simple.

It’s been way too long now. I’ve already gotten accustomed to using FaceID in all situations. I don’t even miss TouchID anymore.

Note: This is just my personal opinion. Yours may differ. Peace. ✌?
That's how I was when I started using an X. I had to revert back to an SE for a point, and I realized I had just gotten used to FaceID, but touchID was so much nicer to use. The login process was cleaner, too, since you just had to press the button without swiping.
