Apple could easily do it, they just won't. They made claims about how much more secure FaceId is over TouchID. And they usually don't back on what they say. Unlike Samsung that made fun of Apple for having no headphone jack or having a notch, just to release products afterward with notches and no headphone jacks.Samsung was able to pull it off just fine. Why is it so hard for Apple. By the time Apple decides to add the feature it might be too late.
I would argue that it's not an issue, but a benefit. I hate how Face ID tries to authenticate when I'm just holding my phone in my hand and walking around. It keeps retrying until it runs out of attempts, then I am forced to enter my passcode when I go to actually use my phone. The issue with TouchID is that is require interaction and is not automatic like FaceID.
I think the issue of TouchID on power button would be keeping IP68 rating. It's doable on iPad because no IP rating is needed. But since the power button is a physical button (instead of a solid state TouchID like in iPhone 7/8/SE), maybe it's going to be much more challenging. Why not just on the power button?
The solution is simple. But it’s Apple and they like to make simple things difficult.
It probably will only be on macs and entry level models of iDevices.I don't don't think we'll see Touch ID returning.
I can't believe that Macs can't identify the user and allow one-touch account login. It probably will only be on macs and entry level models of iDevices.
Considering Google is still trying to implement face unlock on Pixel 6, I think iPhone is actually ahead.iPhone is really going down hill.
Isn't TouchID on Macs allow one-touch account login? CMIIW as I don't have a mac with TouchID.I can't believe that Macs can't identify the user and allow one-touch account login.
Why? Seriously. It works extremely well and is very fast.I so hate Face ID, especially on iPads but on the phone too.
That's how I was when I started using an X. I had to revert back to an SE for a point, and I realized I had just gotten used to FaceID, but touchID was so much nicer to use. The login process was cleaner, too, since you just had to press the button without swiping. It’s been way too long now. I’ve already gotten accustomed to using FaceID in all situations. I don’t even miss TouchID anymore.
Note: This is just my personal opinion. Yours may differ. Peace. ✌?
Nope.Was it ever likely?
