I think they used “Scary” because it’s so close to Halloween. The iMac M2 event is labeled "Scary Fast"? As if.
It's always a multi-meaning pun.I think they used “Scary” because it’s so close to Halloween.
My bet is an M2 and M2 Pro 24” iMac, or M3-equipped 24” iMac and 13” MBPs.
But they risk other companies coming in and saying we will prioritize your market because Apple doesn’t care much for you.
The iMac knows what it did and we are not letting it forget it.How are we on the 3rd iteration (and likely a small refresh) of the M-series MacBook Pros but we are still on the 2 year old M1 iMac?
Rumors keep swirling about Apple working on a 'budget' MacBook Pro. Hopefully they will just take the current 13 MBP, lower some of the specs, maybe jam in an M1 Pro chip, kill the Touch Bar and call it a day. We don't need both models. It's redundant and confusing. It really doesn't.
The MacBook Air M2 is a superior laptop for the 13" crowd. Lighter weight, bigger display, better Facetime camera, Bluetooth 5.3, and, despite all this, cheaper, and with a thinner case.
For the people that really need a "Pro" and are willing to sacrifice weight and thinness, there is the 14" model with much better performance - better cooling (i.e. it has fans), faster Pro chips, more RAM et.c. for not much more.
The only reason I see the for the "Fake Pro" as you call it is the Touch Bar (which was controversial to begin with) and maybe most importantly - a lot of organisations worldwide that wrongfully believe their users need a Pro to do any actual work, so they purchase the old and cheap Pro, not knowing that the Air is actually the better option. I tend to see this a lot.
I think Apple should focus on bringing down the price of the "new Pro" and retire this old Touch Bar thingy.
Not if you can return it for a full refund.I just got my MacBook Pro 14" 2 weeks ago. Did I just buy at the worst possible time?
Yeah, where are, mashinhead's and SurferPup's invitations? Rude, just plain rude.If it is an event... why are there no invites?
Well in the end we all speculate. The iMac M2 event is labeled "Scary Fast"? As if.
There is a path for a budget Macs, the previous generations with decent markdowns. The M1 Air regularly pops up for $750 - $800. The Pro regularly pops up for under $1,000. I don't hold my breath for anything more than that.Rumors keep swirling about Apple working on a 'budget' MacBook Pro. Easy... that sort of talk is how we end up with thermally non-functional "Pro" notebooks with no ports...I would love a slimmed down 14" pro....
Why do you say it is more performance than Apple intends? I would rather Apple continue to overcharge for RAM/storage than stuff low end Macs with crippled and dated SOCs honestly. It makes total sense to upgrade MBPs as soon as M3 chip yields justify it, but putting M3s in the low end MBAs makes no sense because M2s already provide more performance than Apple intends for the low end MBAs.
However IMO what really needs M3 love are the Mac Pro and Studio at the highest end. I really want to see what those upgrades are.
Let’s see some iMacs!
Current24” getting long in the tooth
27” on life support and social security
Same. While it's not overly expensive in the US, the price does need to come down (and before someone mentions B&H Photo, Amazon or Best Buy Discounts...those are only for the bare-bones 8GB models).I really hope they release a M3 Air so the M2 version is discounted, as my 2015 Air is finally about to give up. In my country the M2 is so expensive at the moment.
You ask "Why do you say it is more performance than Apple intends?" Easy. Because MBA is low end (for Apple), and M2 performance as seen in top MBPs and Studios already exceeds what Apple will provide in some MBA speed bump. There is a path for a budget Macs, the previous generations with decent markdowns.
