I would pay 3-4k grands easily, they don't need to add the add the XDR pro display technology, a cheaper 218 dpi display is enough 😅
Another realist! Impressive. Most seem to be expecting iMac “bigger” at former iMac 27” pricing… as if it will make ANY sense to sell ASD and ASD with a whole Mac inside boxed with keyboard & mouse for about the same price. I just don’t see any logical way for that to happen.
  • Start with ASD and probably a stand option as base price: about $2K.
  • Add a good Mac inside. Price minimalists can put in the "starting at..." Mac Mini at $600, though my own guess is that an iMac "bigger" will be branded PRO and offer only PRO & MAX chips... so consider Mac Mini PRO pricing here for anyone that feels that's a possibility.
  • Add an Apple keyboard $199
  • Add an Apple mouse $99
Tally that up: $2K + $600 (or $1299 if you think Mx PRO too) + $199 + $99 does not equal "starting at..." UNDER $2K like we all remember.

Now rumors and some logic goes that an iMac "bigger" resurrection will have a bigger screen than ASD: 21" became 24", so 27" probably becomes ???

If so, add some premium for a bigger, higher resolution screen too. Some think 30". Some think 32". If 32" we have ANOTHER screen from Apple already established at that size, higher resolution, etc with an Apple price associated with it. Sub in something else for its thousand dollar stand... and chop some screen feature(s)/benefit(s) out of it to bring it down from its "starting at..." price... and then add a whole Mac inside + keyboard + mouse. What is THAT price? And if that's a LOW number, what features/benefits did you cut out?

Would Apple DARE to roll out a 27" or bigger iMac for more than a $2K "starting at"? Of course, they would. There's already precedent from years ago...

Per some other logic commonly slung around here to justify price hikes, perhaps some inflation should be applied to that old Apple "starting at..." price too? If the inflation justification rationalizes higher prices of other Apple stuff, put about 7 years inflation on THAT price.

Why would Apple exceed a well-established $2K price point level? Because Apple cares about margin most of all... and Apple margin is EXPANDING. $2K for a "whole" desktop Mac with a 27" 5K screen probably couldn't continue to give them a fattening margin. So kill it for a while, see if "we" can get the market to pay just as much for only the screen by itself (maybe even evangelize that screen to each other in online forums), then resurrect it as an iMac Pro with PRO & MAX chips at a PRO price to fix that margin problem. Whether people will pay upwards of 2X-3X or more than the price they remember for iMac "bigger" is TBD.

But part of the patience in waiting to re-launch may be to allow some to "forget" old pricing... like many of us seem to forget that there was once a 27" 5K iMac that had a "starting at..." price of $4999.

Briefly if anything. Demand on these are not at the level of an iPhone, then again, neither is the production run. A lot of MacBook Pro 14/16" customers will sit on their M1/M2 models for years to come. Macs never get as backordered as phones.

My M3 Max MacBook Pro 16 is scheduled to arrive November 15th

New orders are scheduled to arrive end of November to beginning of December - so launch stock has sold out and new MacBooks are backordered like iPhones

For those who said 14" and 16" MBP are unlikely due to the fact they were released on January 2023, let us recall that these were delayed due to various production issues (chip shortages, lockdowns in China, etc.). They were supposed to be released in the Fall. Perhaps Apple is getting back to its originally planned release schedule.
Way back in the day, the PowerMac G3 was released in January 1999, and then the PowerMac G4 was released in September 1999. It's rare but releasing the next-gen products in the same calendar year has happened before.

For the Max models, yes. The M3 Pros? We had a pallet delivered at work last week, no delays.
