$1600 for a display that doesn't support, the now standard HDR and standard high refresh rate, is not for me. I'll buy a used one if i get one for $600-700

If you compare Studio Display to Thunderbolt Display, CD/TD 2009 was quite advance and forward looking display for its time. SD comes with already out-dated specs.

The report was from dylandkt before he closed down his Twitter account and he did say they were based on the 24" iMac display, the 27" iMac display and the 32" Pro Display XDR. So it stands to reason they were the same 4.5K, 5K and 6K resolution, respectively. He also mentioned the 27" and 32" were MiniLED and ProMotion.

how does dylandkt pick up Young's accuracy creditability? If the 27" turned into a 27" 600nit LED (no 'mini) how does that lend more creditability to the 32 miniLED? ( or the looks almost exactly like 5K 500nit panel isn't from LG? ). We've seen the 27" panel that Apple rolled out.

Also the notion that Apple is going to roll out 4 displays in the matter of 12 or months when they rolled out zero displays for over half a decade and then just did one? Apple cranking out about as many display as they do mac models? Errr. really? Remember still the same context where they are suppose to be itching to roll out a AR/VR headset with yet another 4K screen tandem. How many screens are they chasing at the same time?

5K HDR at 120Hz would require DSC (or DisplayPort 2.0 if no compression). So 6K HDR probably would also. Seems that will put tons of bandwidth pressures on the M-series SoC with limited upsides.

I won't be able to sleep this night....I was hoping so much about even more expensive monitor from Apple. It's a shame.

Considering if you ordered a Studio Display today it wouldn't arrive until mid/end June I don't see them releasing a miniLED version of the same screen as they would just end up with massive product returns.

Another display in June can only be a 27 inch miniLED Pro Display costing considerably more and obviously not effecting sales of the Studio Display as it will be out of the budgets of 95% of Mac users.

Some returns but not many. I actually cancelled my order because I want to see what the xdr version will be.

I don’t see them as being the same product line. I think this new display in June will be xdr line and will be 3500-4000 price range. That’s a very different market to the studio display. It is not a refresh of the studio display. It’s a smaller version of the pro xdr.

They had to launch the consumer level display first because it would have been overshadowed if they had released it at the same time as the xdr displays.

Contradicting rumours regarding 27" display!! Would like to see mini LED on the 11” iPad Pro. Maybe iPad Pro lineup will not be updated this year. Early next year, a refresh for iPad Pro with M2 with 11” also getting mini LED.

If they do launch a mini-LED screen it will be a different product like a Studio Pro monitor, not just an update to the same Studio monitor. And you can bet it will get Pro pricing. You might get some who switch but most will probably look at the price and then keep the display they ordered.
