The only thing I can think is that there is a market for them still, or, they have a large inventory of those chips/sku’s they are dumping. If they weren’t selling then I guess Apple wouldn’t be stocking them.
Possible. If that's the case, and the fact that Apple stated as if the only thing left to complete the transition was the Mac Pro, maybe we won't see a "higher end" Mac mini at all. It will be just the M1 version, that later will be refreshed with an M2. The Intel Mac mini is just there to keep some demand for it, and Apple declared the transition has completed.

Keep in mind he's the only credible analyst that publicly doubted M2 MacBook Pro while everyone was dreaming about its announcement at Peek Performance.
Hardly everyone, several of us posted multiple times that we never thought the next MBA, or MBB13, or Mac mini would be anything sooner the 2 years (nov 2022). Many of us didn't think it was wise to update something already with a M1 so soon before the IMac or the Mac Pro as those hadn't transitioned. Yes people were dreaming, of M2 MBA's, 15" MBA's, M2 MBP13, M1 Pro/Max Mac Mini's. There were comments saying the M1 been out nearly 2 years and so on. Also comments that Apple should be updating their AS SoC's much faster than Intel processors like they do for iPhones. Nevermind this was a whole new ball game for Apple selling M1 family Macs.

I can imagine they won't upgrade the Mac Mini to M2 until they also upgrade the Mac Studio to prevent a powerful Mini cannibalizing the cheapest Studio. And since they won't release the updated Mac Studio until next year, the Mini will also be released later.

I would bet the M2 mac mini will still be limited in terms of RAM capacity and external display support/GPU, and also less performance cores. The segmentation is very clear now (with a huge gap between them). People who need a Mac Studio won't be confused with an M2 Mac mini.

It directly contradicted Mark Gurman's prediction that M2 MBP would come this spring. Given Gurman's 100% accuracy on the Jade C codenames and core counts, I think it was fairly bold for Kuo to post a public counter.

Not really, a higher-end Mac Mini still seem likely given they are still listing the Intel version. If the Mac Studio was all we are getting they would remove that Intel Mac Mini from the store.

If a developer's machine dies and they need to buy a new one, are they supposed to source from Craigslist? You can't code for both architectures and then simply pray it works without having an actual Intel-based machine to test. Apple will sell that Intel Mac mini for a while to come.

Good point. As great Apple Silicon is, majority of Macs on the market are still Intel. It would take probably another 5 years for the consumers to partially transition, so developers would still need to ensure Intel compatibility.

Thus now I think the Intel Mac mini will sit alongside the ASi Mac mini for a while. It's not to be replaced, as Apple themselves said the only Mac remaining to be transitioned is the Mac Pro, signalling that from Apple's perspective, the Mac mini has completed the transition.

based on Apple, they will force users to go apple silicon, if they keep that intel mac mini for 5 years...that is not in Apple interest...they will keep that mac mini till all their intel cpu are sold. But i bet not 5 years... if you still want one, buy it this year or 2023 at most ..2024 will be all apple silicon

Towards the end of WWDC or the September event, Apple will announce M1Pro BTO for mini, retaining the base model for those whose needs are limited to email, and the occasional midget granny tranny porn sesh.

We'll see. Even then, I'm curious if Apple would actually drop the Intel Mac mini. In their keynote, they said the only thing left is the Mac pro. It implies that they intentionally keep the Intel Mac mini.

I have a feeling we will only see the Mac Pro in WWDC. I think it will be a huge event so Apple doesn't want to mix it that up by announcing a slightly upgraded Mac mini. If they did release it, probably just a silent update as BTO option.

Or Apple would just simply refresh the Mac mini with an MW family.

Oh I agree. But I still think that Intel Mac mini will remain for another year or two. It's not for consumers, it's for developers who still need to code for Intel compatibility as majority of Macs on the market are still Intel for years to come.

You obviously don't have the faintest idea how journalists confirm their sources.
Why don't you go ahead with your little experiment and see if it works?
