They will care when they see the new Siri on their friends phones doing things their Siri is too dumb to understand.
Your assumption is that people will suddenly like talking to their phone or change their whole work flow.

I have the latest macOS beta and used these features exactly 0 times. I just forget it is even there and it doesn't go with my habit of doing things a certain way.

If anything, Gen Z seems to be going back to "basics". I noticed point and shoot digital cameras are becoming a thing again.

We all should ditch our phones and go back to regular mail and landline calls.

More hardware features for the larger phone makes complete physical/logical sense. People are looking at it like Apple is artificially withholding features from the smaller phone, but that’s an illogical outlook—there‘s zero valid reason to assume that. Logic suggests that Apple puts more in the larger phone because it has space for more. The irony is that these people are the ones asking for artificial limitation, because only allowing the larger phone to have more battery life as its only hardware advantage would be artificially limiting the potential of the extra space in the larger phone—all for the sake of a few people with weird egos who can’t stand to know that there’s an iPhone out there that has more features than theirs. Yes, the Pro and Pro Max have had the same features in the past, but I believe that was only one exception, and it was probably because Apple just didn’t have any new features ready for the larger phone that year. And look at it this way—people who buy the larger phones with more features are paying for that advantage not only with more money but with the disadvantage of having to handle a larger phone. It all evens out, so let them have that compromise if that’s their preference. By the way, this is coming from a person who hates large phones.

Also unless you’re dissatisfied with your phone, it’s odd to complain about incremental updates…all it’s doing is giving you more reason to save money.

Differentiating the Pro models this way doesn't motivate me to spend more on a Pro Max. It means I would either settle for the cheaper iPhone 17 or not upgrade at all.
But that's not what 99% people will do. For rabid Apple fans like me, I would still buy 17 Pro Max ultra chad edition if it has 4Gb RAM and Apple markets it as "We have finally solved AI and RAM issue". For me and millions like me, Apple marketing is very important. I might get laughed at in public while flaunting an old model. I really want my favorite company to succeed in all walks of life. Taking a loan is perfectly acceptable to me.

Majority of the customers don’t care about RAM in their phones
the majority of customers have not cared or even known how much RAM is in their phones.

this article clearly indicates that those times are ending.

if the iPhone 17 Pro Max needs to have upgraded heat cooling components, as is written, there is intensive on device processing.

im betting you and pretty much all customers will start to care very much about how much RAM there is in iPhones and iPads.

talk to us again in 2 years, after you buy an iPhone 16.

i predict that starting with 2025 you will see an option whether you want to increase RAM. which right now there is not when you order your iPhone or iPad.

It’s going to be glorious if Gen Z suddenly flocks to buy dumb phones and ditch social media en mass, realising how much their life has been sucked out by those “intelligent devices”.

That would be amazing for most people I’d imagine. Bring back CRT and Windows XP while we are at it.

Do you really believe Apple will jeopardize their selling 600,000+ iPhones per day, every day of the year, by giving customers a bad experience using their phones?

And that Apple, a 3+ trillion dollar company, is stupid, never considering the adverse revenue consequences as a result of their customers being very unhappy with their experience and purchase?

Seriously?

Wouldn't it be much cheaper for Apple to use some standard 12 GB RAM module on all their phones? Apple needs as many customers to use Siri and Apple AI.

They do, they just might not make the connection between a slowing phone , poor multi tasking and lacking features like Apple intelligence and a low ram count.

I can already see the complainers lining up in 2026 or 2027 when their "new" iPhones can't run the latest AI models because of lack of ram. Nobody made you buy a 6gb phone in 2023 or 2024 and even an 8gb phone is pretty miserable in the AI age, very good chance that too means an early obsolescence. Don't blame apple or Tim blame yourselves if you brought these phones expecting longevity despite the clear risks.

Why do so many of you just assume a rumor is true and immediately start bashing Apple? It defies logic.
Because Kuo has a great track record. One of the best. The one time I doubted him was when he said early last year that a new AirPods max won’t be out until late 24 or early 25. I thought surely Apple won’t wait that long... but Kuo was right yet again.

It defies logic Apple will raise to 8GB this year, then immediately increase again to 12GB for all models the following year. That rapid increase has never happened since iPhone 6.

Apple isn't about to give 12GB to all iPhone 17 devices. It makes zero sense. What makes sense is Apple pushing their highest tier iPhone 17 Pro Max with unique features.
