Probably a 13" or 14" model.

Despite his sources in the supply chain and incredible predictive powers, he can't know if Apple marketing will randomly call it a "Pro" or not.

We know the 16" model will launch in November based on the Apple Store availability of 3-4 weeks of the 15" model.

I don't see a 3-4 week wait for the 15" model... Mine says shipped and arrives by 11/1 even with full customization

EDIT: just now seeing that there is a wait specifically on the 4TB HD but why would that imply a new one coming if all the others ship fine?

Apple has never released a stand alone product out of season with a new form factor and left the marquee lineup intact. It would be product suicide to add a brand new machine 6 months early from a relaunch.

But we don't know if the 16" is/was going to be a "standalone product" - whatever that means. In the past year we've seen new iMac, MacBook Pro and iPads "launched by press release" in March and May, including quite substantial updates like 8 core processors in MBP and iMac - more significant to many than a slight case design that is only noticeable in A/B comparisons. That was a departure from normal Apple behaviour so clearly their policy on releasing major updates has changed.

However, since the icon that caused most of this fuss has disappeared from the actual release of 10.15.1 then a March or WWDC release (when new Intel chips are more likely to be available & shipping) as part of a new MBP range does seem more likely than an (admittedly odd) November release.

We're speculating on signs and portents here, folks - have fun but don't pretend that anybody has any rational basis for firm predictions.

Check this out

"Today, an image found in the release version of macOS 10.15.1 reveals another look at the new device, showing that one of its new features will be a power / Touch ID key separated from the screen of the Touch Bar"

"..it’s very clear from the recent leaks from Apple that the machine won’t be a significant redesign as many were hoping for."

No special event is needed for a release like that

This news just broke and it proves my point that this is not a major re-design

I’ve always thought it was an ugly look extending the bar to the button. Finally they put space in between them. Hopefully that means the same thing on the other side with an escape key.

I too prefer the scissor keyboard, but I surprisingly found that I actually type faster (and louder) with the butterfly one.

So we are back to speculation that this product could break any day now

Just a rumor. Nothing is confirmed especially since that keyboard is base on the butterfly type.

Both icon and that image is gone from 10.15.1.

The article does confirm that the icon was removed from 10.15.1, but the whole point is that they FOUND this image in the release version 10.15.1. So, are you saying that they are lying?

It’s not a spec bump, or a redesign, it’s like a correction and a “sorry about that”.
Hopefully they did something to fix the thermals while fixing the keyboard.

It's been 4 years for the current design and keep using it for another 4 years? I really dont think so. Also, it's not even finalized. Just wait for it.

That user frequently says things that make no sense...

And you were busted several times lol.

The current design was released on October 27, 2016; so it's only been 3 years and few days. And why does it need a re-design? Who says Apple has to have a 'complete' re-design? The Apple Watch form-factor hasn't changed since the initial release of the product.

What makes you think they gonna announce it this year? We dont even know if 16 inch replaces 15 inch or not.

MBP line up is totally different than the Apple Watch. Dont compare them.

I actually never said that they were going to announce it this year. But if were to make a case for it, then I'd say it does make sense if they're adding icons (now removed) & images of the product to current beta and/or final version updates. Why else would they be putting this in OS updates if they dont plan to use it for 6 months?

Additionally, I'm just trying to figure out why you're saying that the image from that article doesn't exist? Can you explain what you're talking about there?

The 3-4 week lead time suggests an imminent launch within the next few weeks.

When a product is about to be discontinued (15-inch MacBook Pro), Apple no longer stocks the high storage capacity models. Those SKUs with large amounts flash memory in particular, are most affected by price fluctuations due to the current state of the NAND market.

You know that developers actually found an image of the 16" MacBook Pro in one of Catalina's Beta's, right? It was supposed to be released, but Apple changed direction at the last moment. He is making really good predictions based on inside info that he has and he is mostly right. Would you rather have him say nothing, because Apple could always decide to not release something?

Yep. I'm not suggesting there won't be one. Kuo has said the 16 was going to be mid-2020, then Q3 19, and now Q4. It was also supposedly a completely new design. Now it's not.

So, bravo, he's probably right there's going to be a 16. Beyond that, he knows stuff-all.

I'd like to know if Drumcat is receiving information directly from Apple. Seems he knows something the rest of us don't -- doesn't it?

Well "guess what"? Nobody knows. The week isn't over. Those of us who are still anticipating an announcement is just as naive as those of you who keep drilling here that no 16" MBP will happen this year.

Kuo has mastered the art of "say many things might happen across a wide span of time" and you're bound to be right about something.. lol

For the record, Kuo never said the 16-inch would come in mid-2020.

This is my thoughts. Apple will keep 3 lineups for MBP. Then what about 16 inch? Here's my idea.

96W power adapter leaked which probably gonna used for 16-inch MBP. But why? Perhaps 16 inch MBP has better monitor compared to 15 inch like XDR type technology. If they can distinguish the lineup between 15 and 16 with minimum design changes, then it makes sense if they gonna keep 3 kinds of MBP.

But nobody knows until they reveal it in real life...
