Guess today is not the day, 2020 looking more and more likely unfortunately. But hopefully whenever they release the Mac Pro.

To be fair, Apple never said they were releasing anything this month. For all we know it was always scheduled for next yea.

It probably was always scheduled for next year, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Apple's current "Pro" laptop line currently has 2-generation old CPUs, 128gb base storage, DDR3 memory, 802.11ac WiFi, and a subpar keyboard. I've been looking forward to purchasing a new laptop, but it's hard make a purchase this large on outdated hardware which is why myself and many others were hoping for a fall update.

Let me throw this at you. Don't kill the messenger:

No reason MBP would not be released alongside this

Apple will not release a brand new machine by press release. And certainly not alongside the $5000 Mac Pro.

You're probably right.
It does makes sense to update their lineup with BOTH the Mac Pro and the Macbook Pro.

If you consider 16" as a spec bump it totally makes sense to release it along with the Mac Pro, that's what they did with the new i9 spec bump earlier this year.

96W mean something. And 16-inch MBP itself is gone from 10.15.1. While I was able to find icons for Mac Pro 2019 and XDR monitor, I couldnt find 16-inch MBP. I highly doubt that they gonna announce it soon.

You realize you wouldn't have to actually use the touchscreen, right? But others that don't care about fingerprints could enjoy the benefits of it. So it should be a win-win - if Apple gave people the option...

What are the benefits of a touch screen when a more accurate trackpad is closer and more comfortable to use? I’m really curious about this because people say they want them but I cannot figure out why. What can you do better with a touch screen MacBook or what value would it offer?

If this 16 is real, they won’t announce it before WWDC. It will be announced with the other redesigned MBPs.

I still believe that it makes sense to release it with the Mac Pro. MP is going to be more commercial so why not release a more consumer friendly device along side it such as the MBP?

Oh? You got your news straight from Apple? Please, give us the real news.

You seem so definitive on this.

Here's another story that still keeps me hopeful more products are about to be announced...

I have doubts that there even is a 16..

Oh, you fooled us with your definitive statement. You're not from Apple.

The difference with the Mac Pro is that it's already been announced and introduced. The 16" is just rumored. And the removal of the icon from the public release of 10.15.1 seems to suggest some kind of delay.

The timing just doesn’t make sense to release a new one off laptop this late in the season. Especially with all of the hype over the Mac Pro. If the 16 is so important it won’t get a silent press release and get buried on Apples website.

Okay, I like that better

Yeah, you could be right.

I am just not giving up until the end of Friday after all the announcements have been made, if any more are to be made

The only was a 16 makes sense is if they discontinue the 15 altogether. 13,15,16 inch machines don’t make much sense. Maybe WWDC gets a whole product refresh and they announce the successor to the 15. I can’t see how both coexist.

Why would Apple overhaul the keyboards and laptops in mid 2020 but release a new standalone machine now. It would cannibalize current sales.
