He doesn't but as far as I know Mark's predictions have always been on spot.
Apple has never released a stand alone product out of season with a new form factor and left the marquee lineup intact. It would be product suicide to add a brand new machine 6 months early from a relaunch.

Listen, this is just a friendly, lively debate.

The 16" MBP is not a new form factor. Yeah, the screen is larger and they probably are putting in a new keyboard. Everything else is the same. No new chassis.

However, it's not revolutionary. It's just another sized model.

I get what you are saying, but this does fall under a tightrope of sorts. It could be considered a keynote-worthy release or it could easily just be announced via a press release.

What are the benefits of a touch screen when a more accurate trackpad is closer and more comfortable to use? I’m really curious about this because people say they want them but I cannot figure out why. What can you do better with a touch screen MacBook or what value would it offer?
Again - I am not saying I would use it (in fact I doubt I would - even when I bought PC laptops I would never go for the touchscreen variant). But there are people out there that would like it.

I can ask you pretty much the opposite question... What makes you think that your use case fits for everyone? Maybe someone wants to use an Apple Pencil on their Macbook. What is the harm in offering that feature to people that may use it? No one would be forcing anyone to put their slimy hands on their screens if they don't want to use the feature.

Options are a good thing. We all have different use cases.

A new keyboard and screen will most likely come from a new chassis design. Considering that the line is due for an overhaul why release a 16 with the old design and rerelease it in summer.

I think much of this stems from those MBP 16 icons that were found in the MacOS beta, as most people would assume that if they are that far forward in prep work that a release would be imminent.
I still believe that a release can happen this month, but I won't hold my breath for it.

Arguing about whether something is product suicide is largely pointless, we cannot overlay Apple's future product cycle with its previous, doing so is at best an educated guess, but a guess still the same.

That is the same for me btw, my educated guess was that it will come very soon, but that is based on those pesky MBP 16 icons that have since been removed.

We won't know until Apple tells us. But it is fun to speculate. :)

Did the icon say MBP 16? Or was it just a new icon.

Yeah, it is fun, but put the hands on that MBP will be more fun

Absolutely "shocked" that one of Kuo's rumors predictions is delayed until it's delayed again until it inevitably becomes true at the normal time when expected (March - July 2020).

It's shocking to us all.
Rumors are never wrong and never about generating traffic, clicks, interest, etc..

His sources probably gave him a bad date to throw him off the scent.

As far as I know, the only time Apple actually announced a product and then didn't deliver was with AirPower.

This 16" is based entirely on rumors. Which unfortunately don't mean much...
