If this is true, I'll be curious to see what Apple announces to entice people to upgrade from the current XS line.. For me, it would have been something as simple as moving from the Lightning port to USB-C, since it is currently a huge hassle when I take my 2019 IPad Pro with me and have to have to different chargers, cables, etc.

So far, nothing to entice me to upgrade from my X. This will be the longest I’ve gone without a new iPhone.

I agree 100%. I think things we hear as rumors are the things letting too many down. Though I love to see major innovation each year I think (speaking personally) it’s easy to forget the power and how far we have progressed. It’s phenomenal what these small devices can do and I think we are reaching a peak that is difficult to raise the bar a great deal every year.
But one also has to at the least keep up with the competition or surpass them if they are to maintain their image as an innovator ..

So quite literally if Kuo is to be believed, the only possibly innovative thing Apples done is they’ve ripped off someone else’s idea about the tiles and will market it themselves..

Not really expecting much at all today then. What ‘Pro’ devices they are

The only thing that today’s event will do is make the XS and XS Max and XR worthy upgrades for people, no point buying the new ones it seems.
Not sure about the rest of your post, but in what way will the XS/XS Max/XR be worthy upgrades after tomorrow? They’ll all be superseded by newer, better models at exactly the same price

I may pick for the XS when they discount them, I only want active NFC reading and you can get that in the XS.

MacRumors forums are largely an echo chamber of Apple haters, sadly..

"Apple haters" = people comparing Apple to the rest of the industry rather than fawning over the Apple Inc. product just because of the logo?

Reality is pretty much everyone who signed up for an account on here loved Apple at some point, but Apple's own greed and lack of innovation while raising prices has driven those customers away.

Same exact phone? You’ve got to be joking. That’s not even remotely true.

There were probably around 20 improvements to the XS over the X—with no increase in price. People have short memories I guess.

I think that "20 improvements" is a huge hyperbole of the reality, it really was underwhelming - first time in almost a decade I didn't upgrade my phone annually.

Don't care about the specs coming from an iPhone 7 but I really hope for USB-C. So it 2019 and still need separate cables for my iPhone. Hell even need a dongle when I would charge the phone from my Macbook pro, please bring it on.

Also quite sad to see how many people here do have to upgrade every year, sure everybody can do as he likes but why do you need a new phone every year? If it were for gaming you would use android anyway and if you are into photography you don't use any smartphone. So I'm always wondering for what exactly you need more ram, better cpu like what do you actually do on your phones besides the usual stuff?

20? Can you name... 7?

He just updated that tweet:

"Yup, sounds like backside charging is out."
Wrong. I honestly want to upgrade my 8 for the merits of a better camera and new design, but I don't feel much affinity for Apple's stalling offerings, especially looking at the magic Pixel's camera can whoop up at nighttime. If you have any doubts, check out Vlad Savov's twitter stream featuring mind-blowing Tokyo night shots. I'm tired trying to snap a shot that ends up looking no better than an iPhone 3GS picture.

There's nothing "next generation" about the 2019 phone, and it's not suddenly "reasonable" because Tim decided to turn the tic-toc cycle into a tic-toc-toc-toc to cut cost.
To be fair, we don’t know for certain what Apple has in store for us in terms of low light capabilities. They’ve had ample time to play catch-up so I’m mildly optimistic. So far we only know of that third lens for UWA shots but that’s it.

If the rumoured lack of USB-C is true and there's an iPhone with a "Pro" name then it's a massive failure by Apple.

When they launched the iPad Pro they made it very clear "Pro" was associated with USB-C. If you were deep into lightning then it wasn't a problem as there were non-Pro iPads too.

So if they've abandoned that idea then they've basically wasted an entire year of transition. iPhone Pro with USB-C and non-Pro iPhone with lightning would have covered all the bases.

Then again, this is already a wasted year because of the pointless argument Apple got into with Qualcomm over "excessive" $7 fees per $1000+ device before grovelling for forgiveness. 2019 will still use the crippled Intel modems because Tim's supply chain is too inflexible to switch to Qualcomm already.

So maybe Apple really have just written off 2019 entirely so they can double down on 2020; Qualcomm modems, reverse wireless charging, USB-C, new design, etc.

how much Apple will increase the iPhone prices this year?

It seems Apple has charging solution issues.. first the wireless charging pad And now this....
Apple understands charging just fine, you on the other hand....
However an 18w charger is more troubling than their inability to overcome the laws of physics.
I would be reluctant use a 10w charger.

One of the best surprise for the new iPhone and now is out. I can believe, let’s see with what they will show us. But they need to present a very interesting iPhone for the keynote

Yeah, Apple Haters. E.g., you.

20? Can you name... 7?

1. improved processor
2. 512GB storage option
3. improved cameras
4. gold colour option
5. faster modems
6. 60% greater dynamic range on display (Google it)
7. option of 'Max' model
8. IP68 protection from dust/water
9. superior display glass
10. improved battery
11. better GPU

There's 12. Not bad, for an 'S' model. When you knock it out of the park with a product like iPhone X and leave the competition in the dirt, an S model is more than sufficient just a year later. Now, go back to your petty "£1,000 for a phone" rant... don't worry, if you cant afford it most people still can..

How will you cope? My heart breaks for you

Be honest for a second. Why even post this? What was the purpose? To mock a stranger on the internet who was simply voicing disappointment over a feature he was anticipating on a phone?

Why? This doesn’t add to the discussion in any way, shape, or form. Stop for a second and think about how pointless this type of attitude is.

B*llsh*t. X to XS (not speaking about Max) was the most minimal upgrade in the history of iPhone. Even the side by side comparison between the technical specifications speaks for itself.

Wow, you consider a 512GB option (at significant additional expense), and a Gold colour option to be "improvements"?

You also listed 11 but claimed 12, but I guess that's just "improved counting"...

It's an improved range of choices. More Choice = Better... This isn't rocket science (for most people to understand)

If they're not Apple Haters, they're downers.
