The bezel would increase by the height of the notch, so the screen would either extend only to the bottom of the current notch, or the phone height would increase by the height of the notch.
Not necessarily. The notch’s height is to accommodate Face ID -which is not just the simple front camera. I am proposing that they scrap Face ID, incorporate Touch ID either under screen or on the side button, and only house the tiny front facing camera that would be in the hole punch design in the bezel instead.

Oh. Well, sure, if they abandon faceid. But that would suck. Faceid is awesome, and well worth the notch.

I disagree - Touch ID is sufficient and worth getting rid of the notch / potential punch hole. I guess we will see what road they take. I would imagine they would stick with the notch over the punch hole, though. I can't see them copying an Android design.

You don't need to be seen in order to do those things. And frankly if you are in a Teams meeting it'll be on a real computer.
People prefer that you are seen on Teams meetings on the whole and it’s common for members to join via mobile phone too. Maybe it’s different where you work but it’s very common elsewhere.

Given how anti notch some people are in truly surprised that I actually don’t mind it. Like I sort of like it.

How about something more innovative like in-screen sensors and camera to completely eliminate notch and pin hole? Apple must not have enough money for R&D.
Money doesn’t defeat physics, these things are made of so many different parts, built with different materials and processes, it’s not like throwing money at them will magically solve them shortening of years the work needed; if it was only about money for R&D the world would be filled with perfect product.
