Fantastic. Their best accompaniment to the iPhone gets significantly better. Looks like I’ll be upgrading next year.

But I have no idea what SMT+RFPCB & SiP are.
SiP is system in package. Its means everything the computer uses to run (CPU, RAM, storage, ETC.) is stored on a single chip. It's used in the Apple Watch, branded as the S4 chip.

even though this news is probably false I think I’ll get the Powerbeats pro and wait to get new airpods. I kinda want something that feels more comfortable in the gym because all though they never fallout as soon as I start sweating they feel like they will.

So...much...certitude...here....

Rumored product(s). No one really knows at this point.

The existing ones are one size fits all. Since all don't have same ear size/shape, it stands to reason they don't fit all (but perhaps most).

The degree of miniaturization and (rumored) functionality (health and Audio A/R) certainly would justify an increased price. They cease, functionally, then to be accessories but nearly products in their own right (and will become products in their own right if they get cellular modems).

WTF I just upgraded Air Pods :mad::mad:
You don’t have to upgrade every year, but when you’re ready hopefully there’s something new available and it’s been recently released (i.e. not too old). Really no different than iPhone, iPad, Watch, MacBook Pro and iMac; anywhere between 9-20 months. Roughly once a year but not necessarily 12 months apart.

As volumes go up I think we’ll see more products with regular release dates, like they do with iPhone and Watch (Sept) and the entry-level iPad (March). I could easily see a yearly AirPods update, maybe it will be March as well. When Macs transition to Apple’s ARM CPUs, that could happen with the MacBook Pro and maybe iMac too, who knows.

And so continues Apple's disgraceful Add-a-Feature-Raise-the-Price game that has become the norm in recent years.

Gone are the days of Apple's VALUE ADD UPDATES. For nearly 10 years from 2007 - 2016 this was one of the best and most attractive and appreciable aspects of Apple's product business. They would replace an existing product with an entirely new model that was better in every way than it was yesterday, and the price remained the same. That was a big part of Apple loyalty, as much as the ecosystem itself. But that's over now, and the money whores have taken over.

How about creating an air pod that fits people’s ears? That would be a step in the right direction.
The AirPods design is based on the EarPods design which was derived from a years-long in-house study that involved thousands of ears. The AirPods fit most people without any problem. They do not, and cannot, fit everyone, because ears differ.

But a second model, with a decidedly different ear design, could indeed expand its wearability to many more ears.

This is too funny. The literally just released the updated version and will smack you with the updated updated version.
Perhaps you're not suited to reading rumor sites.

If only everyone in the world had your same exact ears
Through systematic social exclusion by selective fitting technology devices, you ear mutants will soon be a thing of the past.

Glad I opted NOT to replace my launch pair with AirPods 1.5!

Same. I couldn’t justify replacing my version one AirPods with what was released in March, even though there was improvements made, I don’t believe personally it was enough for me justifying spending another $170. If this rumor proves to be true, then am I pleasantly surprised I waited.

[Plus, my first GEN one AirPods are still more than capable of surviving that long, as the battery life has proven very reliable.]

not sure i believe this, they just updated them?
This has been the rumored roadmap for a while now, but the timing has been off a bit. I think what may have thrown things off was AirPower: I think Apple was waiting to release the 2nd Gen AirPods with wireless charging to coincide with AirPower. Packaging for 2nd Gen AirPods seems to indicate that they were ready to go last Autumn, but weren't released. The big change was supposed to occur late 2019 or 2020 (as the Kuo analysis claims now). But I think the 2 iterations have been smushed (technical term) together by the demise of AirPower.

Kuo's track record is extremely good and I would hesitate to gainsay what he claims here.

So, it’s not just me. I like the sound but the fit absolutely sucks. I realize everyone’s inner ears are shaped differently so it’s impossible to have a ‘one shape fits all’ but other earbuds I’ve used that fit, do so by offering different sized attachments. Is that not possible with AirPods?
