I like how many of these comments are condemning the idea... but when (if) Apple releases, they will overwhelmingly likely praise it and go out and buy one. On topic, though, I have been hoping Apple does something like this. I much prefer the edge screen, and would definitely go back to considering Apple if they release one.

First - the S6 Edge didn't feel right in my hand because the curve was counter-intuitive to what I was used to.
I don't like curved display either. The feeling when holding at hand is simply strange. And I fail to discover how useful this curved display on Samsung device is. When I turn off the screen, it turns off. Nothing more. Maybe I can see notifications when put it in a bag, though. But eventually you will need to pick out the phone and deal with it on main screen.

Virtual button would be a viable idea. From then on Apple could bring their 3D touch to mimic many buttons on the display, like camera button and flash light button.

I know it's hard to accept that the curved screen that Samsung is using is something to aspire to - hey, I'm with you - I've purposefully cut out Samsung products from my life because I don't like their business practices. But this is something they got right.

Well the Edge on the Samsung devices has a clock, ticker and other things that can stay on when the screen is off... but that's because its OLED

I like the idea of a side display if it can offer something other than notifications. Could see it being handy if it was touch activated.

if u place it with the screen down the side starts to glow in a certain color if u missed a notification like a missed whatsapp could be green or a missed fb notification blue.

id MUCH rather have an edged acreen i barely use than those ugly huge and useless bezels of yes my current iPhone. its starting to look very dated

i have a 1080p OLED tv. The picture is stunning.

I will buy the OLED iPhone.

I would normally but the iPhone every 2 years (i have the iPhone 6 now), but i don't want to get the 7, if the 2017 iPhone is the one that launches with OLED.

I really like the Edge screen!

Its a pity that Apple has to rely so heavily on screen supply from Samsung, their biggest competitor. We'll always be a step or two behind when it comes to screens!

Can't wait for the "Oh Samsung copies Apple" people, if Apple really would release a phone with curved display :)

Just like lately with live photos. "Ohhh Apple made that" - No they didn't. Samsung and Nokia did 3 years ago :)

Love the S7 Edge - Would love to see what Apple would do with a edge display.

I like the aesthetics of the curved screen on the Samsung, but that's about it. The functionality leaves much to be desired.

Just get the S7 Edge, faster, wireless charging, micro SD storage, better battery life. Why wait on a ripoff?

Because the curved screen has no real function on the edge. It is just for looks.

Apple with their knowledge of 3D Touch and using sapphire (Apple Watch) could make a phone that is all glass without mechical sound buttons , just 3D Touch volume and reset buttons, without a mechanical touchid/homebutton, and that is quite shatterproof.

The s6/s7 edge looks nice, but it really has no function.
