I predict a screen and camera on each side with the opposite side's camera providing the wallpaper. The transparent phone illusion.

Curved/wraparound displays are a gimmick and have no place in an Apple product.
I don't really see the point of wrap around screens. Won't they there more chance of smashing the screen when you drop it??

They're actually pretty great on the Samsung Edge for one reason: You can scroll through content without having to cover the content you want to see with your finger.

Also, being able to have just a portion of the screen light up for notifications is great too.

Choosing an appropriate case that protects the phone when it is dropped is the simple solution to avoiding screen shatter on any device.

I would rather want to see a second display along with the TouchID area. That's a huge wasted area other than just having the home button in there. If they can put an always on like e-ink display for notifications or other informations. Then it switches to a customized icons or control once you logged in. Now I'm just day dreaming because Apple will never implement this.

Square-sided wrap around display could be a nice thing since it will totally eliminate the bezel around the screen. There's no other way to do it.

Even if the screen sides aren't used except for volume buttons/gestures, it still will be a nice thing. Could be even greater if the screen has small bulges at the volume buttons locations, so you can easily locate it.

And maybe add some more similar bulged programmable buttons on the edge. Photo and video camera modes, mute switch, stock apps/settings from control center...

Although the render looks cool, it may be one of those things where you're creating elements that now require power to do something that today requires no power. And given Apple continues to move to thinner and thinner form factors, the screen driven buttons will be small and could be more difficult to hit accurately than a physical button.

I do not like Samsungs curved display.... Hopefully Apple has some different idea of ther own

You're kidding, right?

The iPhone 6 display is slightly curved on the sides, which allow a nice experience when swiping back within sections in apps. If anything, a curved display would work better on iPhone than on a Galaxy because iOS already has some things that would take advantage of it and, additionally, Apple can take advantage of it quickly with software updates.

But you'll say that the slightly curved iPhone 6 display isn't a gimmick, right? Because it's made by Apple?

That's not the display

I think its fat enough to bring back the headphone jack.
I want headphone jack back, with a bigger battery, and a tougher phone harder to be bent.

The feeling of holding an iPod touch 6th at hand is not good, for me.

Funny, just got back from Best Buy and I checked out the S7 and S7 Edge. The Edge's screen is terrible. I can't see why so many people like it. The "edge" of the screen casts a blue glow and warps your content.

WHAT!?

I don't care what DisplayMate says, that is not the best display on a smartphone. Just say no, Apple.

A larger screen size in a much smaller form factor. The S7 Edge is a perfect example.

The S7 Edge has a bigger screen than the S7, but it's also physically larger. Furthermore, a screen that wraps away from your eyes is not the best way to increase visible screen real estate. The advantage you speak of makes the case for edge to edge displays in general, not curved ones in particular.

The glass is curved, not the display. There are ergonomic reasons to curve the glass.

Who cares? You know what is cool? A voice assistant that works reliably and can do more than tell you what the temperature is. A calendar app that integrates with reminders. Calendar and map apps that can accommodate trips with multiple destinations/stops. A messages app that syncs across devices when you delete the conversation on one. A news app that doesn't repeat the same story from multiple sources.

I'm tired of paying good money for eye candy and amusements. Tech companies need to focus more on using a hardware's brains for useful, assistive, informative features. I want features that help me to think about the reality around me rather than features that are attention seeking.

I think the curved screen is an awesome feature, and would love to see how Apple implements it.

BTW, I have an S6 Edge. I have no case on it or screen protector, and I've probably dropped it like 5-6 times. It's never cracked or chipped; in fact, it doesn't even have a scratch. I dropped an iPhone once, and it cracked. So in my experiences, the edge screen has in no way made the phone more fragile.

God please no!! Don't ruin the iPhone with a dumb ass curved screen. Only Samsung does stupid crap like that. Curved phone, curved TV, its pointless, worthless, ruins the experience, etc... JUST SAY NO to curved screens!!!!

If curved edges removes the ugly bezels AND allow for a larger screen in the same dimensions as before or close, I'd say it's awesome and not gimmick.

Interesting that Samsung is leading with OLED and curved concept, and Apple just catching up in 1-2 years.

Took the words right out of my fingertips. I don't see what all the hoopla is about the Edge phones and I sure wouldn't want an iPhone like that.

Samsung is just copying Apple even though they did it first. Or at least that's what some here will be saying.

So what advantage does a wrap around display have ?
I was so sceptical that I deliberately bought a Samsung Edge to see if it was anything more than marketing. Now nearly one year later I've grown to like it's advantages. Once I became acclimated I find its especially useful for speed and ease of access to the apps I locate there. Just proves once again that approaching it with a willingness to give it a chance paid off.

So iPhone 7 will be something like Galaxy S7 edge but probably not waterproof, worse battery life and no headphone jack? I mean, at least it will be thiner! Oh yes ... it will also be available with 16GB storage! Can't wait 'till September...
