if u place it with the screen down the side starts to glow in a certain color if u missed a notification like a missed whatsapp could be green or a missed fb notification blue.

id MUCH rather have an edged acreen i barely use than those ugly huge and useless bezels of yes my current iPhone. its starting to look very dated

The better way to utilize that would have been just add a notification blinker to the iPhone 4/4S, like every other android device did at the time. If they add that to a curved display later then you KNOW they are running out of ideas.

Just ordered a S7 today to replace my Droid Turbo. I'm not a fan of curved screens and went with the normal S7 for that reason. Just hope the battery life is about as good as the Turbo. Have never had an iPhone because of the crazy bezel size and less then stellar battery life.

I really like the Edge screen!

Its a pity that Apple has to rely so heavily on screen supply from Samsung, their biggest competitor. We'll always be a step or two behind when it comes to screens!

Pretty sure they don't just rely on Samsung for screens, and they can develop their own, and just have samsung source it. Even though Samsung has an edge phone, I doubt Samsung would deny the producing of millions of iPhone screens, just because it would be a competing product. Samsung has never denied them before.

I do not like Samsungs curved display.... Hopefully Apple has some different idea of ther own

It will be interesting to see how this integrates with 3D Touch, since Tim Cook said that it was very difficult to develop (I actually believe him on this).

Samsung doesn't own OLED nor Flexible OLED, they couldn't deny it nor prevent anyone else from manufacturing it.

ugh. I thought the edge phones were dumb and gimmicky and I hope Apple doesn't copy it.

It may be interesting if used for app menus/controls. It would basically create a number of programmable buttons, but the problem of accidental pressing would have to be addressed. Maybe that is where 3D Touch will come in.

Anyone remember this?

The iPhone that ate too much at Thanksgiving...

Sounds interesting. But as with anything it's all about applications.

I'm actually one of the few hoping the Rumour of a smaller phone is on the horizon. But I wouldn't mind if the large size just got larger.
Change is welcome. Change is good.

Even if they had plans for an Edge-like display, Samsung must have made them think twice. Just imagine how it would look if Apple released one after Samsung.

Much better to keep adding other things like fingerprint scanners, and features like Apple Pay which the industry then adopts, than look like you're copying the company you sued for copying you.

Please no! I ask everyone I know who has the Samsung Craparound and they all say the same thing. . . I never use it, and real don't care.

Square-sided wrap around display could be a nice thing since it will totally eliminate the bezel around the screen. There's no other way to do it.

Even if the screen sides aren't used except for volume buttons/gestures, it still will be a nice thing. Could be even greater if the screen has small bulges at the volume buttons locations, so you can easily locate it.

And maybe add some more similar bulged programmable buttons on the edge. Photo and video camera modes, mute switch, stock apps/settings from control center...

Just get the S7 Edge, faster, wireless charging, micro SD storage, better battery life. Why wait on a ripoff?

Ever wonder why law enforcement agencies aren't taking Samsung or Google/Alphabet to court, or have hundreds of their phones laying around they're not able to hack into?

So yeah, don't wait, get that S7 and make your life whole again.

I'm aware of that. If they are a huge supplier for manufacturing it though, and apple can't meet demand with just LG (which is the case), then they can technically say no we don't want to make that for you, and apple would be at a stop gap. What I'm saying is, though, that Samsung wouldn't do that.

A larger screen size in a much smaller form factor. The S7 Edge is a perfect example.

How so? On the side bezels? The side bezels don't bother me, I'm ok with the width of my plus, where it could use a little trim is in the heighth, which I think we'll see in the 7.

Do I hate it because it seems copied from Samsung or do I like it because I know it'll feel cool with apple's implementation?
