I really feel like 5.8" is the sweet spot for a lot of people and I wish Apple would bring back something around the size of the X, XS and 11 Pro. I currently use a 6.1", but I definitely won't be buying anything physically larger than it for daily use as I already find it a tad to large for comfortable daily use on the go.

Would a large foldable iPhone device suffice?

Yes!

Did you watch the recent tv series on HBO called "Westworld"?

They had a small foldable tablet they used for most things. I want that. 💖

Except it didn't really happen with the Mini. We asked for a phone that could be used one-handed, and they gave us a still-too-big Mini. Pleasing no one. Bring back the iPhone 4 form factor with flagship specs!
Almost suggestive of two versions of iOS for two distinct iPhone usage examples. One for larger displays, one for smaller cheaper iPhones for people that just want the basic iPhone functionality that fell in love with.

Consumers have gotten use to larger iPhone sizes that you can at least see a very small desktop browser representation of a web sites rather than mobile browser examples. I use a 6.1 iPhone now, but Apple with these IOS updates has made older smaller iPhones not terribly useful when considering app navigation or expanded functionality. It would be nice if you had the option to make it more or less complex depending on your needs and size.

I really like the Google Pixel Fold design, much better idea than a solid 6.9” device! If it wasn’t so damn expensive it may be worth a punt to try out, not to replace my iPhone though.

The regular 14 Pro is the perfect size for me. I upgraded from an iPhone 11 which was ever so slightly larger and I vastly prefer the 14 Pro’s size. Hopefully the bezels are small enough where it won’t affect the size of the handset too much.

After being an iPhone user since the beginning, gotta ask, what’s the end goal here? How big we gonna go? Remember when a big phone was only 5inches? Every couple years it goes up. Even last gen was like come on. This gen is bigger than the last one. This has gotta be the peak point. The point at which it’s like “ok we have good sizes. Let’s improve the phone other ways”.

No? We’re still going bigger huh? Interesting to see phones 10 years from now or if we’re basically just holding iPads and carrying purses for them

But i dont wanna carry an iPad mini in my pocket…
So just do not buy the Pro Max. Until a few months ago the iPhone Max sizes always offended me so I avoided them. Then I had some eye issues and a friend's iP Pro Max now seems quite good. This year I will try the iPhone Pro 15 Max out.

Decent show. Need to catch up to the latest episodes.

It's probably a blank screen tablet device superimposed with graphics later? 😅
The concept appears sound but that's more of a tablet than a foldable phone.
It's almost Star Trekky.

While we feel for those this with little hands, we have to agree with you, it doesn’t matter what a topic is about, there will be someone that makes it about a miniature phone. You don’t see us giant people doing this in every topic about how we would like bigger phones.

But now that we are on the subject, let’s talk about it. I am a giant person, when the first iPhones came out I couldn’t wait for larger screens as the original ones were just comically small. The pro max we have now is adequate, it seemed big at first, but as you use it and get used to it you realize it’s still too small. And with all the gaming, videos, and ability to watch movies on our phones it makes sense to offer a larger phone. 6.9” is a great start ☺️ but we think something around 7.5 to 8 inches would be ideal. It would also free up a lot of space for a huge camera sensor, bigger, longer lenses, and at least a 7000mah battery.

Be well friends, of all hand sizes. 🤝
I hear you. But what you're asking for already exists and has for years. It's called an iPad. You can get a 7.9" iPad mini for far less than an iPhone Pro Max. You can even get a cellular one for less than an iPhone Pro Max, and use it anywhere an iPhone can be used. And Apple keeps making bigger and bigger phones every year. There's no reason for anybody who wants bigger phones to talk about it because several options already exist from the Pro Max to the iPad, and Apple continues to make them without question every year.

There is no equivalent to that for those who want a mobile phone like the iPhone used to be. An iPhone that was usable one-handed for those with average size or smaller hands. One that fit into any jeans or shirt pocket. That's why it keeps coming up. It's a barely-met demand that was only partially fulfilled during two iPhone cycles in the middle of a pandemic that kept people at home, where a smaller mobile device was less necessary, and saddled with an unsavory name to boot. It seems abundantly clear that the mini models were only intended to present a "lower" price point for Apple to upsell people into more expensive models, when it actually could have been a premium option at a premium price point, like the Pro Max, for those of us who want something like the iPhone 6s or 7 that was the flagship model in a reasonable size.

As a result, many people during those cycles opted for a size that they felt was too large in the form of the 12 Pro and 13 Pro in order to get the Pro features rather than sacrifice those features for a more suitable size. A few of us opted for the more desirable size and are bitter that we are still made to sacrifice again and again with inferior options (if any at all, as this year nixed the mini) to the behest of people who want a device that is illogically too large and too heavy for the average person and the product's most practical purpose.

I don't want to watch movies or game on my phone. That's what a TV and iPad are for. A phone is a mobile device that provides calling, texting, and occasional web browsing as needed when out of the house and somewhere that I can't bring my iPad or laptop. The priority is for it to be portable above all else. But every year, Apple keeps pushing the smallest size of the iPhone larger, relegating the newest and best features to the largest of the large models, and has made the smallest option larger than many people want.

None of us have complained that the Pro Max shouldn't exist. It's clear that there's demand for it and I fully expect Apple to continue making it or some equivalent "Plus" or "Ultra" size. But year after year, we continue to see Apple pushing further away from offering any practical, handheld, mobile phone option. And while we may not be the majority of device buyers, the demand still exists in millions of units per year for it and it remains unfulfilled.

Apple was supposed to offer three phones. 5 inches "Phone", 6 inches "Pro" and 7 inches "Ultra". $500, $1000 and $1500. Innovations are passed on annually from top to bottom. Is it that hard? "Ultra" should also be able to do more. HiFi sound, camera, display quality, M-chip and very large battery. Thunderbolt, Ram and massive storage. Speakers that stand out from the competition. They could also install glass at the top and bottom that really lasts for years without scratching. Then Apple could also like to charge more than $2000, as this is justified.
No! Suggesting that only the largest phone should get the latest tech is a very bad idea.

Ultrawide A) is much more useful than supertele, B) supertele is probably much more difficult to fit into a small device and C) the computational support required for supertele is more complex.
I strongly disagree. I never use the ultrawide. It's pointless as far as I'm concerned. I can often walk backward to get a larger frame in view. But I often need zoom for the photos I take, and getting closer isn't an option.

If you check out a 13 Pro or Pro Max, the lens is physically the same footprint in the chassis as the other two lenses. I get that all three wouldn't fit into the 5.4" frame as it was. But there was no reason that they couldn't have done a 1-for-1 swap with the UW.

The computational support shouldn't matter because the iPhone 13 mini, 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max all had the same CPU.

All accurate, but you forgot probably the biggest deal knell to the mini line, the fact that it was the same thickness as its larger brethren and thus had substantially worse battery life. Apple basically asked people who wanted smaller phones to make a bunch of compromises the rest of the line didn't have. I'd have happily spent more for a Pro phone (I still miss my XS's telephoto, and I mostly got the XS in the first place because it was the smallest option available.) but I got the 13 mini this year because I want to hold onto a small phone as long as possible, despite the tradeoffs.

It is called market research. All good firms do it, then try to meet what buyers want, need and are willing to buy. Hopefully what Apple gives us in 10 years is what buyers decide they want. If not Apple fails.

It's surprising how people's perception have changed re iPhone sizes over the years.
When the Plus sizes came out years ago, people literally talked trash about them, saying it's too large and that no one would buy it.
Now, years later, the bigger sizes are the ones that are selling better over the smaller sizes.

Everyone has their wants and needs so having different iPhone sizes are a given.

Having said that...
Anyone who's ever owned a Plus model would be used to the large Pro Max model as it's literally almost similar in dimension, maybe a bit thicker for the latter. It's relatively heavier due to the materials and parts used as Apple needs to differentiate the model to justify the higher prices.

Apple should have a JIT like ordering system for the smaller Mini or S model for those that want a smaller model but may not be worth it for Apple esp. if not many people actually demand it.

Still wondering what one would do with a foldable smartphone if Apple does it in the near future. Not everyone does gaming and not everyone needs a stylus for writing.

Also, why the weird sizes of 6.3" or 6.7" instead of 6.5" & 7"?

Lastly, Apple should revamp the iPhone lineup as it's too complicated now.
Maybe just put ProMotion into all the iPhones...
- iPhone Mini/S 6"
- iPhone Pro 6.5"
- iPhone Ultra 7"

To each their own.
