Make it out of recycled plastic so I do not have to carry a literal glass brick around anymore and we have a deal. The iPhone is so damn heavy. I can crack my fingers from too much usage and my wrist hurts occasionally but once you go Max, you can never go back

This is be one reason Apple will use to justify the enormous price bumps that are coming for pro phones. Pro tablets are rumored to have enormous prices increases as well.

Cool and all however the iPhone 13 mini is using older technology. They could, I don't know, maybe say this is the size it's going to be and we'll put the best tech we can in it instead of the larger, larger, larger, largerlargerlarger they and the rest of the industry has been doing.

Agreed, they could just put the latest chip in it, fit a USB-C port, and it will be good to go.

This will be a very nice change in my life.

exclusive to the pro and pro max, until they’re not.

We’ve seen the cycle. The following year the entire lineup will have those two sizes.

Me. After using the Pro Max for a couple of years I’ll never go back. It fits fine in my pockets, and smaller phones feel tiny in my hands. I also really appreciate the large screen size in my car that is 10 years old and doesn’t have Car Play. I even used my Max with a keyboard to do some writing and other tasks, but a smaller screen is not as convenient for these things.

As always, everybody’s needs and wants are different. The more variety we have the better for all of us.
That's fair. It's obvious people like them. I don't get it. I don't understand how they use these phones and carry them around when they don't fit in virtually any pockets anymore, regardless of whatever benefits a larger screen offers. That's what the iPad is for. If I didn't have CarPlay and couldn't get a car with it, I'd probably look at putting an iPad mini in my car.

I had a 13 Pro for a couple months and eventually got so fed up with the cumbersome size and weight that I went back to my 13 mini. The mini never felt too small, even right after switching back. I miss the telephoto lens a lot, but it's still not worth carrying around that massive thing...constantly struggling to use it with one hand and getting it in and out of pockets or finding a place to stow it when not in use made it a real albatross.

But when the smallest current iPhone is larger than the largest iPhone from just 4 years ago, something is wrong. Like I said in another post, human hands have not increased in size that much over the past 4-5 years. It's clear that Apple is selling millions of these Pro Max phones, whether the size actually makes sense for mobile use or not. But as you say, everybody's needs and wants are different. It makes no sense that they aren't also selling a current device smaller than 6".

Apple should just have an iPhone Mini manufactured on demand so I can stop hearing about it in the threads. The only difference, if you want it, you just have to wait for it to be manufactured versus going into a store and buying one. This is to protect Apple from manufacturing a bunch of them and there is really no demand for it.

This is actually a really smart system. I'd imagine it only makes the phone take one or two more days to deliver.

Tim Cook’s mastery at what you just suggested is actually a big part of why Apple survived and why it got to be so big.

The information comes from display analyst Ross Young, who often shares accurate insights into Apple's plans. Young earlier this week said that the Pro models will have larger display sizes, and he confirmed to MacRumors that these larger screens will be Pro exclusive and will not be coming to the more affordable iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

At approximately 6.3 and 6.9 inches, the planned larger display sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be the biggest screens that Apple has introduced to date. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max feature 6.1 and 6.7-inch display sizes, which are also the sizes expected for this year's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

A tweak to the display size suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could potentially see a design revision, a decrease in bezels, or both.
Another 16 months maybe. The size changes reminds me of just a display substitution that they plan on utilizing.

I want a phone that doesn’t weigh too much for the pocket of a pair of gym shorts or sweatpants.

Unfortunately, it appears that Apple is eliminating smaller phones from the line-up.

Then passionately tell Apple to continue with smaller ones here. If enough of us do, Apple might fall for it again, as it happened with minis. 😉

This is not going to end well. Imagine yoga pants with these babies squeezed into their pockets, LOL...

Who needs pants? Just wear the phones. ;)

Phone out front. Tablet around back. Goggle battery utility belt to hold both in the right places.

"I'm Batman" ;)

I have a feeling Apple will eventually give up and bring back the iPhone Mini from the dead. It shall rise again! 🌅

Does anyone miss the 5.8 inch iPhones?
I have an iPhone 14 Pro lying around unused because it is just too big, ugly and inconvenient in every way. I keep using my XS until it dies. The most beautiful iPhone Apple has ever created with the perfect size.

Actually, Apple could consider the same approach with their other not so mainstream models, like 14 Plus, for example. I would happily wait for a few weeks for mine to be built from scratch.

This is the part that baffles me about the love for these huge phones. Who doesn't find the size inconvenient for a mobile device?

I had a 6.0" phablet years ago that didn't fit in some of my jeans pockets. These phones are bigger, bulkier, and heavier than that phone was. How do people carry these things when they don't fit in any pockets, and you need two hands at all times to operate them?

The mini was just about the perfect size and weight. Light enough to use while walking and not worrying that it was too front-heavy and would tip out of your hand. Small enough that you could basically reach the top corners without much struggle, even if your other hand was holding something or dirty. I just don't understand the appeal of having what is literally starting to look like an iPad mini that is somehow supposed to replace the actual, mobile, hand-held devices we used to call phones. It just makes the same device less useful and convenient when you're constantly having to lug it around and put things down in order to use it.

The average human hand hasn't grown by 0.2"/year since 2018. Why are phones?

💰💰💰

Compare prices of old one-handed-use phones to modern 2.5-handed-use phones. ;)

In pretty much all seemingly-illogical or anti-consumer decisions, pursuit of every possible nickel of profit is likely the driver.
