Haha, I don't wanna sound all fancy and stuff, but it's not about the size.. it's about how organized it is and about the quality/diversity of the music. I don't have many songs compared to many but I cherish all of them (giving them proper genres, dates, album covers etc...)

I love my little library, it's so simply beautiful :p

got round to ripping some more CDs this past weekend and now my library is
2588 / 7days / 60.91GB (all ALAC)

110 GB 6.8 weeks play time.

No movies, all music.

I have a very wide range of taste in music, so there's literally a bit of everything, and its all named and id3'd correctly....

Tuneup is a great program :)

This is an issue that I'm continually coming across: how to ID my music.

Would you recommend tuneup for someone who wants to ID their music?

Hi - I'm just shy of 400,000 tracks in my main iTunes library, and probably about another 500,000 in my live recordings library which hasn't made it to iTunes yet.

Any tips for how to speed iTunes up on Lion ?

I.

Music = 6.7GB
Movies = 297.3GB
TV Shows = 55GB
Books = 1GB

TOTAL = 360 GB

I know it isn't the largest but I am still ripping DVD's and just started adding to my collection a few months ago.. My goal is to double this in the next year! :-D

- Joe

Music = 6.78 GB (1218 songs)
Videos = 1.84 GB (2 live concerts)

I have a very narrow genre of music I care for so out of that I only have 50 artists all together but have basically every song by each of those artists

Livin' large...libraries that is!

50,639 songs = 338.91 GB
687 movies = 2.4 TB
68 tv shows = 606 GB
3890 books = 1.06 GB

Orgainizing my itunes libraries on my external hard drives

nice libraries everybody, is it best to have all my different media all in one single itunes library? on a single external hard drive?

right now I just have music in my itunes library, but i may have books etc.

I have albums that I converted to mp3 with some software. i load these albums into itunes, (I do not use itunes to rip my cd,s i just use it to sync to my ipod.) if I move my itunes library, does it matter where the original content is stored? in this case the mp3 albums?

I ask because itunes seems to keep a copy of these albums in the itunes folder I made on my hard drive.

You can disable that by going to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder"

thanks for explaining this, so if I uncheck & delete these copies, do i need to have the original mp3 albums on the same drive?

& vice verse, if I leave keeping a copy checked, does it matter if the original content, in this case the mp3 albums, are on the same hard drive as the itunes library?

Habitus, WOW!

Storing ~16 gigs of music, and recently I do prefer to listen to online radio stations and podcasts freely available.

That is the biggest library I've heard of - you win so far :)

Keep number of playlists to a minimum, and turn off "live updating" in all smart playlists.

I don't use iTunes (tons of useless features which I don't need). I use foobar2000 for music playback and Floola for putting music on the iPod.

My music collection is about 400GB in size, not counting in vinyl and CDs which haven't been ripped yet, also not counting in around 50GB of music which isn't tagged/sorted/cataloged yet.

My turn

As a major fan of classical music, I pride myself on the organization of my music as much as my enjoyment of it - after all, they do call it an iTunes "library". It would be much bigger, if I had the time to catalogue the rest of my music. Everything is in ALAC - I started a major rebuild of the library about this time last year. I wiped everything out and started over with lossless as the standard. I will create AAC 256+ versions for my mobile devices.

I also always attempt to get at least 400x400 resolution album art. Sometimes, if none is available, I will end of scanning it in myself.

Not at all substantial or eye popping.

Worth noting that a lot of the podcasts are video.

Does anyone actually use all the stuff in their iTunes library, or have it just to have it?
