Huh, that looks like what could be Steve Job's Social Security number. Or his monthly pay check? Get it to the lab!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

Silly. Next they will be analyzing dust particles.

That site is pretty much on track with this site. The entries are usually pretty much the same. Being wrong on that one story hardly makes them the worst Apple rumors site ever. It's not like MacRumors (or any other rumor site) has a perfect track record..... and why should they? These are rumors sites- they report on rumors. Sometimes they are accurate, sometimes not.

MacRumors understand the role of this site, which is all about rumors. So they don't claim anything unless it is true.

AppleInsider seems to be confused by its role. Granted, they are really good at writing "Inside ***" series. Lots of good technical reviews. But at the same time, they always claim untrue rumors. The way they write rumors makes you feel it's real.

So how can this product be scheduled for release 5 months from now in mid 2010 and yet the days since the last update are way over average? Why is the macrumors buyers guide advice saying don't buy updates soon if the "rumors" point to a release in 5 months???

Despite there only having been 3 models of the iPhone, there have been 4 revisions (the extra one being when the original was updated with more storage). This drags the average down as the other updates have been annual.

I'm Pro everything Apple and I prefer Apple only software..... But the A+ update is going to be their new chip, which has almost zero power consumption "according to steve" so expect the chip, longer battery life (7hrs for 3G 14hrs 2G), better camera optics, New User interface, a March Apple Event (as usual)... I pray we go back to aluminum, I'll be glad to pay a premium for that.

I don't think the CPU is a problem in the power consumption department. I think the 3G/EDGE chip is the problem there. For reference, note how the Nexus One is quoted with nearly the same amount of battery life when talking on 3G.

Hang on a minute. Everyone is so rumo(u)r / iPad
- And most interesting, definite space left for a camera inside the iPad.

.

this seems to be the real mention. the prototype ipad which appears to be authentic also had a front facing camera, or so it would appear...

Maybe there IS a camera...

Front facing camera on iPad and I might just change my mind. Otherwise, I'll just wait.

Does anyone else see the cutaway on the 'top' of the surrounding plastic thingy on the iPad in this shot?? I think this might also help prove that a front facing iPad camera is a very good possibility! Why would there need to be a cutout right there, dead center???

But... I don't see the appeal. The angle you would have the iPad at while attempting to video chat would be terrible. Up the nose, double chin, ugly.

If it's a prototype, I submit that there's very little that we can assume from this image that would apply to the model that will actually ship.

It's not a prototype. They brought a fresh box iphone with them to set up for a size comparison. My best friend was there at the event and actually picked up the phone to see if it might be a prototype and it's just a plain old 3g iphone. It wasn't even a 3gs, just one of the cheap 8gb ones.

and the bezel is there, they had a case around the iphone

Yes, the cut-away has been noted. Debate seems to be whether this reflects the ambient light sensor/proximity sensor, or a camera.

I vote camera.;)

Regardless of the picture I am 90% certain that the next iPhone will have the iPads A4 chip inside of it. To me this just makes sense when Jobs said this will be a A+ update that no one else will have (I am paraphrasing).

Just think a minute on the iPads reported battery life because of the A4 chip and think this hit the next iPhone. I would love the talk time on that. :D

while I agree that it seems almost certain that apple is moving their 'smart' mobile devices to this homegrown processor, keep in mind that the processor is NOT the only factor for the ipad battery life. a huge part of that is the battery itself. they are using the same one as the laptops which were redesigned to shove way more battery (and more efficient ones at that) into the same space. so you can put more battery in a 10 inch device than a 3 inch one and get more life just from that.

In other news: Apple is rumored to be working on updates to several of its computer lines. Rumors are unclear, but seem to indicate release sometime in the next 11 months.

Yea. Definitely not most informing rumour ever. The only way that it could be any vager is if it said "this might be a picture of an iPhone, or a mac as well we aren't sure" lol. ;)

iPad possibilities...

Time to post something completely speculative. This picture shows an iPhone and an iPad. From what I can see in the picture, there is no case over the front of the iPhone, so there is no "hole" for an IR sensor (which i thought was in the speaker hole... not for sure though...). The reflection on the iPhones and iPads surface looks like an Apple monitor and makes it seem that the white dot is indeed something on the front of the iPhone. Another interesting thing to notice is that the picture has been edited in the area of the iPad and iPhone 30-pin connectors. Could this mean that the iPhone could be connected to an iPad? Also, there is an indention at the top of the iPad across the screen from the Home Button that could be easily be a camera. And, what is the slit on the left side of the iPad case? (Oh yeah, the iPad isn't bolted to the table, it just has a case on it so you can't see what it really looks like, fyi)

Event? I thought that this was some CIA type break in. It surely wasnt an event. Whoever took that photo would be sleeping with the fishes...

Second, a "whitish blotch" appears to the left of the iPhone's earpiece in the image

Even if it is true... I was using a Nokia phone with a whitish blotch in 2002! And yet you fanboys will fawn all over Apple and act like they invented the whitish blotch.

Palm Pre

Holding my palm pre up to the screen it looks like an exact match minus the plug in the bottom. Too ugly for an iphone.

I heard a rumor apple is making an iSwipe which is a credit card sized version of essentially the iPod Touch.

Oh my god the glare is also in the shape of the Verizon logo. Obviously means it is coming to Verizon.

I wish I could see apple's designers' faces when reading these rumours...

Here's an exclusive artists impression image of one of those faces..
