I'm interested in the telephoto lens on the Pro Max, with the increase beyond 12mp, im hoping it will catch up with if not beat Samsungs S23 Ultra which has brilliant zoom.

With WatchOS switching the side button to bring up control center, I wonder if the new action button will do something similar for iOS control center. The iPhone X-style swipe down from the top right corner still feels clunky and out of reach most of the time, and all the mentioned functions for the action button can be found in control center today. This feels like a good place to do a dynamic island-style UI change too, focused on control center. Maybe a double press or long press? Back when they were still talking about this and the volume buttons as haptic, there were interesting possibilities for swipe gestures too, like the AirPods Pro 2 volume controls. Maybe that could still happen with a real button?

Totally agree! Rather than having a button do one thing, make a long press (or something) on the button bring up the entire control center where you can adjust volume and a dozen other things!

massive sigh of relief on that one. would have had to find a new carrier since mine doesn't offer e-sim compatibility.

This would be my issue too, im in the UK and there aren't many networks that currently use e-sim.

I used to be so excited about iPhone releases. Now I'm here still with the iPhone 13 Pro and kind of feel "meh" about this upcoming release. I'm slowly accepting that upgrading every 3-4 years is now my new normal as only then do the combined small improvements/changes over that period start to feel worth the money to upgrade.

Exactly how I feel. Slightly better this slightly different that. Used to upgrade every year and now I feel as “meh” as you. Just nothing compelling here. Your 13 will serve you just fine.

I didn’t say it was poor, I said it was my biggest complaint. Charts mean nothing for my real world experience. My 14 Pro Max often doesn’t last me through the day. My 13 Pro had a smaller physical battery but had longer battery life than my 14 Pro Max does.
What do you use your phone for?

Bezels 1 3rd smaller that’s not thin, the iPhone 14 pro bezels are big I would of thought half but 1 3nd isn’t much
According to previous rumors, the bezels will be 1.55 1.71 mm instead of the iPhone 14 Pro’s 2.17 mm. I’m withholding judgement on whether that qualifies as thin, but it’s less than half as thick as the iPhone 12 bezels (3.47 mm).

The same things that the very large majority of people do. I don’t consider any of my usage particularly unique or unusual.

Browsing the web, reading (articles and ebooks), watching videos, taking photos/videos, social media, listening to music/podcasts. The majority of my usage is indoor too, so it’s not even like it’s the brighter display on the 14 Pro Max that’s draining my battery more. AOD is off too.

and have a brushed effect, unlike the polished finish of the current devices that have stainless steel frames, to reduce fingerprints. The edges where the metal sides and glass front and back of the device meet are now more smooth and rounded.
In other words, it's going to be more slippery than ever. Brushed metal is slippery because it has less grip. Smooth and rounded edges are more slippery because it has less grip.

It will probably have a matte glass back, which is also more slippery because it has less grip.

I wonder if the master of corporate greed, Tim Cook, does this intentionally in order to sell more Apple cases? Whether you buy an Apple case or go without a case, Cook wins either way. If you buy an Apple case, Cook makes money. If go without a case, you're much more likely to drop your phone and damage it, and then Cook makes money if you take it to an Apple Store for repair.

Better battery life and improved resolution on the telephoto and ultrawide lens is great news! This just got me a lot more excited. Battery life has been my number one complaint about my 14 Pro Max.
Battery is AWFUL on my 14PM. I’m a heavy user but I always end the day in the red. My 13PM could easily go 1.5 days with the same usage. We need to start holding apple accountable for these downgrades like we do when we clock android handset makers for similar downgrades
