On one hand, I would love to replace my 11 pro this fall...mostly for the camera improvements. (All other improvements are basically on a scale from meh to nice, but I don't really care.)

But, on the other hand, I got the 11 pro 4 years ago - to replace the 7 plus - because this was the first phone in a while that had the same camera module in the "normal" pro and the bigger one, and I always felt the 7 plus was too big.

So, this year I'm really torn between getting the 15 pro max (for the periscope camera), the "regular sized" 15 pro (which still had better camera than my 11 pro), or - and I'm increasingly leaning towards this - keep the 11 pro for another year, and get the regular 16 pro (rumoured to feature the periscope zoom also in the smaller pro).

Of course, if I postpone it, the 16 pro max might still have an even better camera, and I'll be having the problem in a year's time...

My 11 pro still has adequate battery life, battery health is down to 87%, but it still lasts me all day (except on holiday, if I take lots, and lots of images, then I usually needs to top it up in the afternoon), so it will probably be OK for another year...

How do we "know"? The M3 hasn't been announced!
M2 we already had rumours and leaks about cores and architecture with 3-4 months away from announcement and we knew it will be on N5P
M3 we already know the cores count and some already suggest we will have hardware Ray T that requires a new architecture within the gpu core itself. We never had rumours in the last 2 months that suggest it will remain on 5nm

So you’re just speculating.

Well, Apple has finally given in and is catering to the low IQ crowd who think more megapixels means better picture.

Yes, it does. But more megapixels means larger file size, and larger print size. a 48 MP picture can be blown up to fit on a billboard. Do we really need that level of quality for a picture you are going to upload to Instagram or Facebook to make other people jealous of your mushroom risotto?

And a periscope lens is great if you're hunting the Kriegsmarine in the 1940s. Show the Nazi navy the Spanish Armada.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro. The claim that it has a 23hr battery is NOT accurate. I do nothing but read webpages, check email/facebook, and play Suduko on my phone and there are MANY days in which I have to charge my phone in the early evening. And my battery health — after less than a year — is already at 89%. Looking forward to a more reliable battery in the iPhone 15 Pro. #fingerscrossed

I'm in the exact same boat. Same phone, same concerns.

A few things though:

1) The camera upgrades will be smaller than you think in practice. Really, the one biggest difference is if you run while filming, with your phone, which I don't. The second one, is if you use the photos for very large prints, which also I don't. Otherwise, in daily use, expect a bit more detail but also a bit more over-processing.

2) I don't like the pillbox. No matter how they sell it, I think it's strictly worse than the notch. This is because it's surrounded by screen, it's a cutout, so it's almost always very obvious against anything but a black background. They tried to sweeten the bitter pill, if I may say so, with pretty animations, but I think it's a failure, a gimmick, bad design and as far as possible from the full-screen phone that we really want and all the Androids are edging to.

3) Most of the changes are really, really minor. Faster yes but the 11 Pro is really fast already. USB-C but that's just a cable. Could have been microUSB for all I care. "Action button" meh? Is that even better than the toggle? I'd still use it to switch to silent mode, except now I couldn't tell just by looking at it if it's already active. Which I can with the toggle, it's got the orange bit.

4) It might come as eSIM only, this is a big change and it's a downgrade. No more putting in some SIM and Bob's your uncle, it's much more convoluted, you need data, QR codes etc. If they do that, I'm out.

5) No funky colors, it's all very serious.

I'll wait for the announcement but I also think I might hold on to my 11 Pro for longer. I got the 512Gb version so replacing it with a new 512Gb version is absurdly expensive and poor value in Europe.

“Gurman claims that the new titanium chassis of the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ models will be more durable, reduce weight by around 10 percent…”

This seems like a simple enough statement. But, while the new chassis may offer 10 percent weight savings, does that mean that either of the Pro phones will be that much lighter than the 14 versions? Or will the new periscope lens add 10 percent more weight - meaning that Apple will have simply held the line on weight gain while adding the new lens?

Here's the breakdown!

Definitely sounds like a worthy upgrade to me.

One thing missing is iPhone support for the Apple Pencil.

Some of you guys are like clockwork on every iPhone post.

“Where is the mini?”

“These upgrades are nothing.”

You already know the mini isn’t coming and if you have a 13/14, you don’t have to upgrade. For those of us still using an 11 or 12, this is a nice upgrade.

Also, we’ve reached a point where there isn’t much more they could do with the phones until technology allows for another major step forward. What do some of you guys expect to see?

If your iPhone is still supported and getting updates, use it until stops getting them. That means, you should not be thinking about an upgrade until iPhone 18 or 19.
