why the eff is there a home button??? Jesus, this really might just be a gigantic iPhone, and nothing more..

I was right about the silver gradient though, a la iTunes 9.

When are these "spies" going to carry cameras that don't create so much image noise? ;) I can barely make it out.

I have no doubts this is from Apple; it definitely looks legit in that regard. But I think this just may be a controlled leak.

It looks like we are really going to have to subscribe to another f**king service if this picture is really it. I don't want to have a special AT&T or Verizon subscription to make my tablet work. I just want a simplified laptop or an iPhone with more real estate and video chat.

Does anybody see a camera on the front of this thing?

It says "no service", but the WiFi icon is still lit up...
Hopefully there's a WiFi, no 3G service option.

Seems to have the same magnets that an iMac screen uses. Appears legitimate.

so it's gonna have free worldwide navigation?

As cars get smaller, that would be one massive screen hanging from your windshield!

Apple has their map app ready? That would be wild! Otherwise, Microsoft can say hello to Surface's sexy cousin.

You guys need to stop with calling everything a controlled leak thing.

Or in other words, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

These leaked photos are very believable, I think they are the real thing.

On a side note, I hope this thing comes in more than one screen size. I would love to see a 5 inch version alongside the 10 inch that is pretty much confirmed. With a 3G cellular connection I would want it on me at all times, a 10 inch tablet is not fitting in my pocket, a 5 inch just might.

Cool 10-pound armored travel case!

All I need to know in order to want an iPad(?):

* Based on iPhone OS

* 9x the screen area

And those two are pretty much certain!

Of course, wanting one isn’t the same as buying one. (If/when I DO buy this, or some future version of it, I think I’ll skip the cell plan and settle for WiFi. I don’t mind paying the full price. My iPhone is sufficient when I need Internet in odd locations.)

I agree, except that too many screen sizes would be a problem for app usability (games especially). An interface designed for hands, fingers, and multi-finger gestures is SIZED for a human hand. Apps that are run at a size other than intended will not be ideal. So I’m thinking it’s best to let app developers target two screen sizes for now and not get too crazy with different interfaces. (Or worse: different app versions altogether.)

So 3.5” (which we already have: highly portable) and 10” may be the two sizes for now.

But if there is a middle size, I could go as large as 7”. That’s book-sized, and with a thin margin would be at the limits of pocketability.

It'll be light, and you can carry it around literally like a leather bound legalpad. More convenient to carry to meetings, classrooms, libraries, starbux, any place to read or take notes, surf, etc.

That looks to be Google's imagery and placemarks (including fonts) of the Virgin Islands. Bing's imagery looks entirely different, so we aren't going to be seeing Bing maps if this is the real deal.

Not necessarily. The iPhone has to have a carrier because it is a phone.

The tablet most likely only uses connectivity for the internet, and you would therefore have the option for a cell carrier in order to connect when there is no Wifi. But I would wager it will work fine without a carrier if you think you won't need that level of connectivity.

Yeah, well that brings up the question of whether or not an "unlocked" tablet will cost more if sold without a carrier plan, which is what donlphi was asking about.

this could be a controlled leak at apple so we are completely shocked at the new tablet tomorrow when we see it. I mean its looks real but it could just be a way for apple to gain more hype for this tablet. Or someone thought f-it the thing is being released tomorrow why not post it 12 hours early for everyone to see.
