Wow. Front page just updated.

Seems they're going retro. Think it has a Pentium III processor and 64MB RAM. I'm so excited. I ordered 3!:)

Tenks, could the imacs also be a diff architecture? All it says is the ghz, but not C2D..

No. Based on those speeds, they are the same mobile "Penryn" Core 2 duo's that are currently in the iMacs. It looks like Apple is updating their iMacs to use the same nVidia chipset that the notebooks are using. The chipset for Penryn made by intel, Montevina, was highly delayed and bugged which is probably why you're seeing such a quick 'mid-term' update to the imacs. The nvidia chipset supports ddr3, which is why you see the change from ddr2 to ddr3. You have to remember that Apple uses Intel's mobile chips and chipsets for their iMac lines and traditionally the mobile line is the last to get the architecture update, at least the the last 2 times around. Their aren't any mobile nehalem's out, and their won't be for awhile. They got axed in favor of nehalem's 32nm refresh, Westmere. So we're stuck with mobile penryn's in apple notebooks/imacs for awhile, hence the short term update. Plus the last chipset (Monte) being botched, apple had to turn elsewhere, nVidia. It's going to offer descrete/integrated graphics performance I'm sure. It just seems like they are refreshing the iMacs up to par with the notebooks.

Also keep in mind the economy. Intel dominates the mobile market. Especially with Penryn. Why would they push out a brand new arch of new mobile nehalems (they're huge btw, wouldnt work that well) when they have a huge current stock pile of Penryn's, that are still pretty crazy good performers, dominating AMD in that market segment, and making tons of money? They dont have a reason to put out a mobile nehalem. It's not worth it for them to do so. Their 32nm process was way ahead of schedule and the 32nm westmere mobile parts were going to overlap with the nehalem 45nm parts so they ended up just getting canned and their sitting on Penryn for longer then normal.

This should explain everything, because Apple takes what intel gives it. Not the other way around.

Apple made a terrible mistake, it wrote Japan in Japanese Kanji characters over Taiwan instead of the Chinese characters for Taiwan.

You can see the mistake while Apple is updating their Stores worldwide.

HAHAHHAHA YEAH U FOUND OLD NEWS NOOB
LOL, go to the store mate , it's only just come up, wasn't like that last night when I looked .....still says intel GMA though ...someone is messin at Apple , No?

edit * oops , my bad  don't I feel a bit silly ....it's all the excitement , I'm telling ya, I can't take it  :D

Yes, it is from 2007, but that image is still acitve (and will be if even they update the mac mini, since there will be no case change, or even color):

http://www.apple.com/macmini/

They update the link to the image once they upload it and have it ready, in fact, right now, it's probably some random gibberish like Gq35wber3.jpg and will change once they hit "update" in their administration panel/upload over the old files.

The only problem is stretching the GPU to 1920x180 makes for vastly lower frame rates ... why can't they put a hefty graphics card in the 20"?

I played DOW2 on a top of the range iMac from the previous gen, and it struggled at native res. I had to lower it to 1300 something, and even then it wasn't the kind of blow your socks off performance i hoped it would be. Totally playable, but a bit disappointing.

It'd be a kick in the teeth though, don't you think. Imagine if you just spent £2, 000 updating your iMac, only for another one to come out 4 months later with substantially better specs. I wouldn't buy a desktop from Apple again after that! (Not that I'd buy a desktop full stop, but that's besides the point).

Most computer companies update there desktop specs regularly. 4 months isn't bad.
