Next time people should order from their carrier instead. I ordered at 9am from AT&T and it was delivered yesterday. So much better due to less demand.

I ordered my on september 14 at 6:00p.m on at&t and its still on backorder

I ordered mine at 6:10 PM on the 14th from AT&T too.

Has anyone else ordered from AT&T directly that wasn't in the first shipping batch seen their order change status yet?

Mine just did. I ordered a 16gb white at on 9/14 at 12:56 am and a black 16gb at 1:03 am from Apple. I was told this morning that everything after 12:53 went into back order status and as of right now, both orders show as "preparing for shipment."

I ordered another white 16 gb about 10:00 am on 9/14 from A T & T. That phone is in Ft. Worth and will be delivered on Monday by FedEx.

At this point, I am unimpressed with Apple. Missing the supposed cut-off by 3 minutes means - apparently - a week's delay while an order placed with A T & T 9 hours later is on its way.

-Ordered a 64GB black at 0120Hrs PST from Apple.com on release day.
-Been on 'Preparing for Shipment' status since Thursday with an ETA 5 Oct.
-Waited for my wife to do get her hair done at the salon that's next door to an AT&T store. I asked the store how many 64GB black iPhone 5s they had in stock and they said 5. I smiled and laughed at the situation... what else can I do?

What time zone do you live in? Because the time you're listing is prior to the time they went on sale so you must live west of California. But unless we know how far west we really don't know how early you placed that order.

Just realized I had a brain cramp here. Was thinking of EST when thinking about the preorder start time.

This is exactly why I don't pre-order... I also have amazing luck. Didn't wait on any lines, simply went to my local AT&T store at noon. They were sold out, of course, but as soon as I was about to leave the FedEx truck pulled in with a new shipment!

I feel bad for those who ordered and still have to wait weeks. I only experienced that when the Xbox 360 came out years back and that was depressing! haha. Not to mention that I only had to wait for 2 days after the launch to find a store that just got in another fresh shipment.

I would talk about why I love the phone, but I don't want you all who are waiting to get more antsy. So I wil just say that the worst thing about it is that the battery life drains faster then my iPhone 4 used to... Lol

Delivery on 9/24 :)

Ordered mine on 9/14 2 PM EST. Told that it would take 2-3 weeks but got an email with tracking # and will be delivered on Monday 9/24... I am glad :)

What are you even talking about? He lives in the western (pacific) time zone. You were able to preorder at midnight Apple's time (pacific)... 3am eastern.

As far as the guy who you quoted. I don't get why you're disappointed with Apple and impressed with AT&T. They simply sold out of the first batch by the time you had ordered and you got stuck with the next shipment of iPhones to arrive from overseas.

The fact that you were able to order 9 hours later and get filled on the same shipment as your Apple one just means that they didn't sell out of the secondary iPhone arrivals yet...

This is the expected on the shipping, as their just estimates.. Expect longer with pre-orders.

I see apple orders i do, every now and then, the time shipping info for a new products moves to a closer date.

Dunno why this is news at all. The reason for the being news, may be from the original one, where Pre-orders were delayed.

*shrugs* still don't get it. It happens...

It's funny how when you pre-order anything, you're chances of getting screwed on launch day are 50/50.

On the other hand, if you don't pre-order, and walk into a store on launch day, you're almost guaranteed to get the product.

So not true at all. I've never had a problem with pre-ordering. And of the 2,000,000 people that ordered in the first 24 hrs, I'd bet that less then 1% had issues. And of those 1%, I bet at least half the problems were because of customer issues (unpaid bills, different billing/shipping addresses, etc). Or, they simply ordered too late to be included in the original launch shipment.

Walking into a store, especially later in the day, is a crap shoot. Although the last few years have gotten better. If u have a specific model in mind, which most do, your chances are much better if u pre-order. It seems stock has been pretty good this year, but I went to 4 different stores looking for cases and in each one I saw at least 2 people walk out without the model they wanted. It seemed 16g black was what most places were out of.

Bottom line is if u want the device on launch day, pre-ordering is the best, most fool proof way of going about it.

Hi Everyone!
Had my credit card charged for the iPhone but it still says processing on my apple store account. Anyone know how long between being charged for the phone and shipping is?

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm sure you will get a shipment email soon. I was charged last night and got the email at 2am.

Well it's in Hong Kong... my memory is hazy but I think last year (with my 4S) from China it goes to Canada and then it ships to your location from there. We should have it by end of week. Maybe as early as Wednesday.

I take back that I don't have a date. There is no delivery date on Apple.com or UPS.com; but the shipping notification from Apple says 9/27. Also, it just arrived from Hong Kong to Anchorage. It's Stateside. ;)

I ordered my wife's iPhone 5 at 3:15am EST on the 14th. Hers came yesterday.
I ordered mine at 4:00am EST the same morning. I originally got an Oct 5 delivery date.

However, I got an email yesterday saying it shipped and will be here on the 27th.

I ordered two phones within minutes of each other, a white and a black 32GB AT&T model. The white one has just shipped for Sept. 28th delivery. The black has not been processed yet.

hey boys, i'm also one of the lucky ones to have a oct 5th delivery date but pushed up. its been shipped according to apples site and tracking was given, but it hasn't been updated since yesterday so far, with no delivery date given either. my boyfriend is sort of in the same boat, his says preparing for shipment, but hasn't been shipped i suppose. looking forward to my new phone!

Apple had originally "sold out" of their initial batch of iPhone 5 devices within the first hour of sales and went on to sell 2 million devices in the first 24 hours. iPhone 5 delivery estimates remain at 3-4 weeks out at Apple's online store.

Every single time, Apple "sells out" and every single time, like magic, they seem to then have plenty of supply a short time later.

But the funny thing is, people believe Apple every time with their specious claims of "sold out" - to the point that certain folks even wait outside their stores!

The media never learns. They always announce the sellout like it was unexpected, and few report that there is no "shortage" when sipping times magically decrease.

Take a look at the shipping notice you received in your email. That is where I saw the 27th date. Mine was originally the 5th as well.

I ordered my iPhone at 5am EST and it still hasn't shipped yet I see people saying they ordered past 7:30 EST and in THE SAME STATE, and they are getting theirs on Sept 27th. I hate Apple's nonsensical shipping logic. You would think the earlier order would be shipped first, not the ones made hours later. :(

I just want my iPhone...

Hey mine too! Our iPhones must be on the same shipper! Whoo! If it's in Anchorage I suspect we'd have them by Wed. for sure!
